Say this is a 20 by 30 room with 2 DC 20 traps, 2 DC 25 secret doors, and 3 secret compartments DC 25, 20, 15 going from close to door to far from door.

Party perception guys opens dd and does a perception check rolling 35...what does he see from the door?

edit:ok if design doesnt show. trap in front of door, secret door and first compartment 15 ft away, second compartment 20 ft away, third compartment 30 ft away, trap and secret door 35 ft away.

With a 35 he see anything with the DC's you have listed. Some GM's requires to specifically say you are checking object X, but that is not in the rules.

Assuming you have gone through the modifiers in the perception skill table and applied those as needed and resulted in those DC's... he sees everything.

Distance adds +1 to the DC for every 10 feet. Given that some of the stuff is up to 35 feet away, that'll add up to +3 to the DC.

What are conditions like? Candlelight is considered to be terrible lighting conditions, so that would add +5 to the DC. Torchlight is still a +2 to the DC.

If the PC is distracted, that would add +5 to the DC.

So, potentially, that could add up to +13 to the Perception DC, meaning he wouldn't see some of the items.
