Magus spells, wich do you use?

Advice

well evryone knows about shocking grasp frostbite and frigid touch mirror image

and mainly after lvl 7

I know you mentioned after level 7, but at low levels my hexcrafter abused the hell out of Brand. I don't care if they save vs the 1 damage and mark, it's a way to get a free extra attack via spellstrike from a cantrip without using close range arcana.

Scorching Ray is a good backup missile attack, and with Close Attack, you could channel one through your weapon if you wanted to (not sure why you would...).

Vampiric Touch isn't bad - less damage than Shocking Grasp at 7, but you get temps out of it.

Shield is also a potentially good option, as you won't ever be wielding a shield.

Vanish is fun - take a -2 to to your attacks, make a concentration check, and now you're invisible for one attack. Could be useful if you're multiclassing with something that Sneak Attacks, or if you want to work around reach.

Haste is always a good option for a caster, doubly so for a melee caster.

Fireball is a good general-purpose spell, even if you can't channel it.

My son's magus generally uses Shocking Grasp and Pool Strike for most attacks, with the Scorching Ray and Fireball for ranged attacks.

Pool strike sucks.

Frostbite and chill touch are good options though. I'd not use vampiric touch actually, its not really worth it, maybe as emergency.

It probably depends on your group composition. I'm my groups primary front line "tank" type character so I use shield in pretty much all fights and use vampiric touch a lot for the survivability boost. I also use ablative barrier a lot, though it starts to fall off around level 7 when you get some really hard hitters.

Frostbite is my favorite of the dps spells personally.

I user monstrous physique a lot as a dps boost, movement ability, and survivability increasing spell.

My 7th level Magus in PFS, who tries to prep for anything, currently has these memorized:

1st -
(Intensified) Shocking Grasp
(Intensified) Shocking Grasp
Shield, just for when I don't have the time to zap my wand
Enlarge Person, same reasoning as Shield
Weaponwand, for my often-used Wand of True Strike

2nd -
(Intensified) Burning Hands, just in case we encounter a swarm
Mirror Image
Glitterdust, for those pesky Invisible nasties
Scorching Ray

3rd -
Daylight, because 2 of my characters have died when nobody had this
Haste, as a party buff

I have a 1st- and 2nd-level Pearl of Power, and I think my Arcane Pool is up to 6 or 7 now. He's a Str-based Dwarf Magus that tanks with his HP.

If there's another caster with Haste in the party I'd probably switch it out with Vampiric Touch.

As a kensai?

Reduce Person/Alter Self/Elemental Body(air): size bonus to DEX
Mage Armor/Shield: AC
Blur/Mirror Image/Displacement: additional defense
Bladed Dash/Fly: mobility
Vanish/Glitterdust/Scorching Ray/Black Tentacles/Greater Invisibility: misc

I carry scrolls for situational spells: elemental aura (for dealing with swarms), Daylight, Fly, etc.

I have a frequently used wand of infernal healing.

im a bladebound STR magus we dont realy have anny other strong charachter in our party a monk and a ranger are close but no sigar

i got 20 str and 14 con so a real frontliner always got mirror image shield and vanish memorized ;-)
