Quick Paladin Question

Can someone point me to where the rules say your deity has to be one step away from your alignment? I know it's somewhere (or maybe I just assume it's somewhere), I just can't find it.

That rule doesn't exist, but if its specifically for PFS it should be in your little guide to PFS play thingy under religion if I remember correctly. Its not a rule in core, but it is in PFS.

It's in the PFS rules I think, but not the regular rules.

Liberty's Edge

It's in the cleric class but not specifically in the paladin class:

Alignment: A cleric's alignment must be within one step of her deity's, along either the law/chaos axis or the good/evil axis (see Additional Rules).

If you are a paladin that worships an actual deity, it's certainly reasonable to apply this rule as well, or even to rule that the deity must be lawful good

Lets not add more restrictions to paladins... It might be a reasonable houserule, just remember every once in a while you'll find a guy who wants a paladin of Cayden.

I believe certain archetypes require a diety. Variant channeling requires a deity, and I think Sacred Servant does, but I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

Sovereign Court

It says quite clearly in the rules "Alignment: Lawful good" under Paladin in the core rulebook.

I allow some leeway for Neutral Good and Chaotic Good gods, as in they follow the laws of their god, not the laws of the land, but a Paladin has to be Lawful Good.

Thanks everyone for the clarification.
