besides the rules for multiclassing confusing me in general. how would this fucntion?
say im fighter/ranger (just random ones made up)
and im level 6.
if i wanted to multiclass to say...bard.
would it become figther 6/ranger7/bard1? with multiclassing out of fighter and into bard?
or would it be, fighter-ranger6/bard1? multiclassing replacing both.
thats my main questions, still a lot i dont understand, but thats the main one.

is there a more recent official rules? i only ask becuase i dont know lol.
but if thats the most recent, recognized one, thats what we are doing i imagine.
good to know.
now i just have to figure out what i get/lose when i do this.
i have a druid6/monk6
we have a month before we meet again, and when we do meet we will be doing a new campaign with a "ambigous amount of time passing".
so i figured i could retrain to ape shaman (on a group reasoning) and master of many styles.
level 6 ill have level 8 wild shape into a huge (templated) gorrilla.
ill multiclass out into something like barbarian or fighter.
But i dont understand what i lose/gain exactly from doing that!

You should probably play the game long enough that you understand multi-classing without confusion before you try something as complex as gestalt.
Gestalt (in addition to being righteously shunned by many) adds a great deal of 'moving parts' to a character concept that makes it more difficult to keep track of all the bonuses and class features.
You should be able to pile on so many bonuses and abilities with just two gestalt classes, that multi-classing beyond that should be un-necessary.

weve been doing gestalt all the way to level 6, everyone is a gestalt
besides not caring if people shun it or not. we are already there, so we arent gonna remake our characters to better suit someones tastes even when they dont play with us.
sorry, its not a shot at you, im just saying in general :D
that said, gestalt is complicated, but we are making it work, and ive learned most of it. its not too hard.
but no amount of me playing the game is gonna make me understand how multiclassing works, i read the rules on it, still made no sense to me.
