Nah, not really. I'm honest. I really would like you to clarify your opinions, provide evidence if you can and stop attacking people who disagree with you.

Seriously, y'all are posting in a troll thread.

All of his responses have been specifically designed to be inflammatory.

Especially the clumsy "WoW is why power gamers exist" comment and the "stunned" reaction to the "venom" his poorly worded and obviously troll-y OP was.

Let it die.

Don't see how I can be more clear? Already said I can't link information. If I could why would I, it's not a trial. Sorry I use the net but never took a computer class so I could paste you tube clips on my forum posts to seem superior? Sorry i hate obnoxious powergamers and can't prove that they receive preferential treatment. Sorry I "accuse" people without proof, babble incoherently and share oxygen with such elevated beings as those crusading against me and my evil opinion thread.

@ manimal ,I like your argument. Wish I could tell you this had been intended to be more than "hey if you can relate or agree come chat" as I wasn't looking to battle, more the fool am I.

Honestly until this statement you were hard to understand, and what you wrote did sound like an attack and an accusation. When asked to explain you refused to go in depth on your position. Now you are an adult so you don't have to do anything, but a discussion is an exchange of ideas. If nobody is willing to clarify what they mean, then it is not much of a discussion.

With all of that aside "powergamer" is a very subjective term. I even opened a thread to try to come to a consensus so the terms powergamer, munchkin, and optimizer could have a standard meaning, but that failed.

Lastly if you make an accusation or state something in a factual manner people will ask you for proof or clarification. That is just how things are around here. Most of us have been asked to provide proof or evidence as part of an ongoing discussion or debate. If you feel like you don't have the proof now just make a note of it in the future so that next time you can reference it. I am not saying people will agree with your view of how an event took place, but at least you will have something to stand on.

PS:I am not taking sides, just providing perspective.

At the bottom of the page you will see "How to format your text".

Beside that is the "show" button.

That shows you how to use the BBcode. If you really want to know how to use it inbox me.

I taught another how to do quotes. I think I got him using url's also.

This discussion descended to playground name calling and juvenile sniping very fast.

Addressing the the original question.

Not a protected species but Paizo is offering more options to make PCs more survivable.

The problem is most Groups will use all the options watering down the challenges thrown at them.

In the past the most fun and memorable adventures are the ones that our characters survived by the skin of our teeth.

Cakewalks are forgettable, too easy = boring.

I think what is happening is Paizo are putting out as many optional tools as possible to keep characters alive not realizing that players will want to use them all and its making it hard for a new GM.

I don't GM as much anymore because I don't think I can make it a balanced challenge for my players.

On the other hand If you look at the type of games that the Paizo employees talk about playing - its character killing death fests.

8th dwarf I don't see using material responsibly as power gaming. It's the"milk every advantage" idea. Anyway wish you had come around sooner but alas, with my incoherent writing, you wouldn't be able to understand me at any rate. Cheers.

Wraith, on a lap top I would attempt it. But on this touch screen phone I think I will end up getting too frustrated!

Well, I was wrong...

...there was no mention of SWF in the first 50 posts.

I understand. My typing on my phone is really bad also. I try to double tap the screen to zoom in and nothing happens.

grr....

I believe there is a difference between optimizing and powergaming. I >have no evidence to support this.<

I understand what you mean. I don't think many of those players have ever been GM's. I try to be good enough without being too good. A GM has enough to do without accounting for super character, but at the same time I do think 8th dwarf has a point.

Players, well most people, like new things so when new feats, spells, and so on comes out they want to try them. I think a lot of it is related to that also, even when the player is not trying to make the GM's life more difficult.

You don't need evidence to support this, as this is a clearly stated opinion—the dead giveaway being "I believe."

However, clarifying what you mean would be helpful.

What powergaming is is up to the interpretation of the DM and the group. The group has say indirectly since they give the DM his role and can "take it away" by using a different DM or leaving.

It comes down to what people see as a misuse and abuse of the rules which may differ from group to group. For instance, 99% of groups would probably call it an abuse to minmax and have a Cha, Wis, and Int of 3 to max out the physical stats and then to never roleplay as lacking common sense, being stupid, or being abnormal socially.

People may differ on how they see dumping to 7s for one or two stats though. (I made my opinion pretty clear on that in the thread where I talked about how a DM should handle this.).

The point is powergaming is pretty relative since Paizo has not stated what they consider powergaming to be in terms of the Pathfinder game. Even then, people may disagree with this assumption though it would be much harder for people to argue against with there being an official ruling.

I've been reading it as 'Kaymal Tootie" for as long as i've seen it.

I had no idea there was this much confusion over my name..I'm almost considering making a thread about it in Off topic to clear this up

Honestly, I am glad things have cooled off, I don't care if the thread dies now, I think we have one another's opinions , too bad we couldn't skip the 50 or so combative posts and boiled it down to the more reasonable stuff. I acknowledge my own contributions to the 50 aforementioned combative posts.

I'm locking this thread, not because anyone is/is not a power gamer, but because it's loaded with pointless sniping.
