how does reach combat works?

Advice

Do I treat it like range? -4 for attacking into melee? I'm just wondering!:)

No, you don't take penalties like that. You just can't attack anything next to you.

They are like melee weapons, except for determining cover. Cover is determined as if they were a ranged weapon. (Pick a corner of the square, draw lines to corners of enemy square.

This means if you are attacking through another creature with a reach weapon, the target gets a +4 AC soft cover bonus.

So does soft cover mean miss chance or just the ac bonus.

When doing Reach combat you can't attack anything adjacent to you (first circle of 5 foot squares) but can at ten feet (second circle)then you do as Tarantula says for cover.
