I have an idea. But in researching it first, it may be dead before it starts. Specifically I am thinking of modules for BBox GMs. Referencing flip mats and the like.
I checked the Compatibility page and found that it doesn't list the Beginner Box. (Thst and it expects full compatibility with the core, which isn't quite true.)
What's the status? Will I be required to go vanilla with it (the basic version of the world's best selling derivative of the world's blah blah blah)?

I am not sure of the details, I know some 3pps are already publishing 'basic' adventures which are essentially using the begginer box rules. I am not certain of the legalise that dictates this. You might want to contact those publishers for such details. Not sure about referencing flip mats. I am pretty sure those arent open content though.

You cannot reference the Beginner Box or any of our Flip-Mats (or anything else not on Exhibit B) for Pathfinder Compatible products released under the commercial license. Some third-party publishers make an oblique reference to the Beginner Box, but they can't specifically mention it in their products.

AFAIU it's like with the retro clones. You simply build off the PFRPG OGL/PFRPG-license but keep all builds/rules simplified as in the BB.
I believe 0OneGames does it with their Basic Paths line

Yeah, it could certainly be done 'vanilla', but that is a bit self defeating.
See, the Beginner Box is geared towards those who aren't necessarily RPG savvy. Think about it - you're new enough to want a basic product, but advanced enough to handle converting something that isn't 'compatible'?
It's a catch 22.

It is possible, providing you keep to the rules. Mentioning or referring to the Beginners Box is not allowed, but there is no reason, why a third party publisher cannot write adventure modules geared towards players with the Beginners Box.
I am currently work on such a project at the moment. It would certainly be a lot easier if the Beginners Box was in Exhibit B on the Compatibility page, but it is certainly not a show stopper.

Can you make stuff under the Community Use Policy that references the Beginner Box?
Absolutely—the complete list products you can use with the Community Use Policy is listed here.

Thanks for the follow up, Liz.
I'd like to blog and podcast about my experiences with the Beginner Box and also take a stab at making and posting some little adventures, quests, monsters and magical items. I'd like to do it for my own learning and figured that putting it out there would be a good way to give something to the community and get valuable feedback.
