Celestial Totem, Lesser (How does it work?)

I am wondering about how Celestial Totem, Lesser rage power works before I make a build. PSRD Wrote:

Celestial Totem, Lesser: Whenever she is subject to a spell that cures hit point damage, she heals 1 additional point of damage per caster level. In the case of non-spell healing effects (such as channeled energy or lay on hands), she heals a number of additional points equal to the class level of the character performing the magical healing. This does not affect fast healing or regeneration.

So here is my question, other than natural healing, fast healing and regeneration, does the rage power work with all types of healing. The reason why I am somewhat confused is because the second to last sentence refers to "magical healing." By reading the second sentence, it suggests that channel energy and lay on hands are magical healings. This begs the question, however, about what is a magical healing.

Is it a healing from a supernatural source. Would the renewed vigor rage power, which allows the barbarian to heal itself once a day, work in conjunction with this rage power?

By the way, renewed vigor reads:

Quote:
As a standard action, the barbarian heals 1d8 points of damage + her Constitution modifier. For every four levels the barbarian has attained above 4th, this amount of damage healed increases by 1d8, to a maximum of 5d8 at 20th level.

Renewed Vigor is a extraordinary ability.

Tough one. Renewed vigor is a non-spell healing effect, but nothing suggests it's magical.

The way I read the power, it assumes a non-spell healing effect would be magical, but does not require it to be.

Yeah, I guess this comes down to RAI. I just looked up Lay on Hands and Channeling and niether of them mention that they are magical sources of healing either.

Maybe it is common knowledge that they are magical sources of healing, but I am blissfully ignorant on that subject.

Seconded. I think that's the intention there.

Do either of you know whether it is common knowledge or noted somewhere in the rules that supernatural healing is "magical healing?"

I do get both of your points, however, that the key phrase in this ability might be "non-spell healing effect."

I think I found the answer for anyone looking for this in the future. Based on what I have seen in similar rules questions, it seems that it is common knowledge that supernatural abilities are magical because they do not work in an antimagic field. However, there does not seem to be an exact definition for "magical healing."

If common knowledge is correct, I guess renewed vigor and celestial totem, lesser do not work together.

Wow, I wonder if Paizo realized this. Would have been nice if they did work together, though. It would have made celestial totem, lesser and renewed vigor somewhat appealing.

I guess you could always go two levels of barbarian and then switch to lawful and finish off the rest of your levels with Paladin, since Lay on hands and celestial totem, lesser do work together.

What about druid spell Good berry "you can make 2d4 berries. The berry also cures 1 point of damage when eaten, subject to a maximum of 8 points of such curing in any 24-hour period".I have Lesser celestial totem that says "Whenever she is subject to a spell that cures hit point damage, she heals 1 additional point of damage per caster level".And druid level 5 gives me 8 good berries do they heal 1 hp + 5hp from caster level each? and i will eat them all that would be 6*8=48hp or i am missing something?

Bakinkoljach: I'd still enforce the 8HP maximum per day

I just like the mental image of a barbarian - her face contorted in a rictus of rage, every muscle tense, every vein bulging - furiously chomping down berries.

BARBARIAN AM SMASH PUNY BERRIES. BARBARIAN AM FEELING BETTER.

I would assume the goodberries would heal you for 6hp, but yeah, capped at 8hp for the day.

And yeah, I believe Spell like and Supernatural abilities are considered magical, while extraordinary are considered not magical. But I'm way to lazy to look up where it says that stuff.

Renewed Vigor is (Ex).

Extraordinary Abilities (Ex): Extraordinary abilities are nonmagical...

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): Spell-like abilities, as the name implies, are magical abilities that are very much like spells...

Supernatural Abilities (Su): Supernatural abilities are magical but not spell-like...

Yeah.

Any sort of non-magical healing, including treating deadly wounds with the Heal skill, Renewed Vigor, fast healing of any sort (even if caused by a spell) alchemical healing if it existed (I don't think there are any alchemical items that directly heal, although Troll Styptic provides fast healing), and regeneration would not apply to this power.

I thought good berries would be like Senzu Beans (some form of instant recovery)like in Dragon Ball Z series. But i will give them as option when there is no healers in party,no civilization around to buy potions and limited them to 8 hp per berrie and no more then 8 berries consumed per day.

Korr the Warsplinter was heavily breathing,he felt his fury slipping with every second passed.Rest of the party was dead or dying. He needed second wind! His lust for battle still not sated. He snapped string of elven rope around Divada's stiff neck, rope holding small leathery bag.Dozen black seed-like berries were inside “Hm she said never eat more then eight, what the hell”.”Lets see what these babies can do!".He poured all of bags content down his throat, occasionally chewing. With smirk on his face he was badly bluffing about berries taste"Taste's like trolls dung"he thought. As soon as he swallowed last piece of berries,he felt like someone stabbed him his guts and searing pain inside his head, then he felt as his was destroyed and remade again.Logic and proportion heightened,he was so anxious to smash something, feeling was exhilarating. "I usually don't meddle with stick's & stones witchcraft, but today foul beast you will meet your maker!"

Would you say it works with the feat Fire God's Blessing?
This one is not fast healing or regeneration but its type is not defined.

Fire God's blessing:

The Fire God rewards you for killing enemies with flame.

Prerequisite: Half-orc or orc, worshiper of a god of fire

Benefit: When in combat, if you deal fire damage to an enemy, you heal 1 hit point. You can only benefit from this healing once per round. Attacks that cause a target to catch on fire heal you each round the target takes fire damage.

Would be a nice thing to heal yourself for 1hp/level each round if you have a weapon that deals fire damage.
