Great cleave

Rules Questions

I understand the point of how it works, so I understand you get 2 attacks per round as a fighter at six level. So if I am understanding correctly the two attacks per round are thrown out the door when you use great cleave??

Yes. Iterative attacks are only used when you take a full attack action and using Cleave/Great Cleave requires a standard action. It's a matter of deciding which option is more beneficial to your character at the current tactical situation.

By default, you only get iterative attacks when you use the full-round Full Attack action. If you're not able to utilize Full Attack, you need to spend a move action to get into range and then just spend a standard action to attack. One option is to spend your standard on the Attack action. This allows you to make a single attack. Another option is to use a standard Use Feat or Use Special Ability action. Cleave/Greater Cleave are standard Use Feat actions. If you can position yourself where you can cleave to multiple enemies, you can get multiple attacks using a standard action according to the details of Cleave and Greater Cleave; Full-Attack iteratives are a whole different subject and not involved with Cleave/GC in any manner.
