I got a couple of questions about the spell slots of prepared casters.
1. Can a wizard use a Pearl of Power to recall a spell of an opposed school that he memorized by using two spell slots?
2. If I use a higher level spell slot to memorize a spell (without meta-magic), it's still a spell of its original level. If I'm a mage and put a fireball in a 4th level slot, could I affect it with a lesser Meta Magic Rod?
3. Same as question two, but with a Pearl of Power. Would a 3rd level fireball prepared in a 4th level slot require a 3rd level or a 4th level pearl?

1. Yes. Nothing in the item's description references spell slots, only spell levels.
2. Yes. Nothing in the item's description references spell slots, only spell levels. This is true even if you used metamagic - the CRB specifically states "Spells modified by a metamagic feat use a spell slot higher than normal. This does not change the level of the spell."
3. 3rd, for the reasons given above, even if you used metamagic on it such as an Empowered Fireball in a 5th level slot.
