Magus and Metamagic Rods

Advice

Alright, so I really want to try to make my Magus work... and I am noticing that Demons and several other common monster types are immune to shocking grasp.

Since I'm building magical lineage (shocking grasp) and my feats are stupidly tight with the Dervish build... I need a way to hold a rod and do my spellfighting... so that I can use an acid substitution rod.

I'm currently using a Bladebound Magus archetype so that I can use the +damage arcane ability AND not have to pay out of my earnings for a weapon.

But I'm wondering if you can combine the hexcrafter archetype with the Bladebound one and take the prehensile tail hex.

I'll be taking a million pearls of power to get back my Shocking Grasp... But it's going to be vexing if I don't have a way to get around reistances, since my DPR comes from melee AND spells... I get hit with Resistances and DR twice.

On the DR end I can take the Magus Arcana that lets you type your weapon as GOOD for 1 arcane point at level 12 :-/ and Versatile Weapon.

Any other thoughts of how I could accomplish the same thing easier? Tiefling isn't an option in PFS, right? I need an extra arm somehow... and I don't wanna multiclass.

Tieflings are legal in PFS play.

Hrm. Well, that makes things easier...

tiefling tails are awsome BUT

all you need is elemental spell!

and you can do damage on the creatures where they are most vulerable to!

just make sure you remember at leased 1 of each and use pearls to recall those used that day!

oh if you use magical liniage as I do i would even think of not intensefieing them and using your lvl 1 slots for them aswell as lvl 2 slots with intensefied/elemantal shocking grasp!

when you finaly get to a rod buy a quicken rod its just so much better!

Yeah, just play a Tiefling. It's got the best stat adjustments you could hope for (if playing a Dervish Dance Magus) anyway. The rod-holding tail just sweetens the pot further.

The rod holding tail CAN be awesome but it's still going to cost the OP a feat to do it.

Remember the base tiefling tail allows you to retrieve a stored item but only the upgraded tail from Grasping Tail feat allows you to HOLD an item.

Your tail becomes more useful.

Prerequisites: Tiefling.

Benefit: You can use your tail to grab stowed items. While you cannot wield weapons with your tail, you can use it to retrieve small, stowed objects carried on your person as a swift action.

Special: If you have the prehensile tail racial trait, you can use your tail to grab unattended items within 5 feet as a swift action as well as to grab stowed objects carried on your person; you can hold such objects with your tail, though you cannot manipulate them with your tail (other than to put them in your hand).

The regular tail is great but doesn't do what the OP needs.

Now if you go Hexcrafter Magus and take prehensile hair hex it functions as an arm and can hold items as well as use the rod.

Or just take the right arcana and call it a day. Then again my PFS magus has a specialised limited metamagic mask that only works on evocation spells.
