so how does twin soul work? I mean i can read, but how is that better than just getting a new familiar?
...er, because it essentially combines your and your familiar's HP totals (effectively giving you +50% HP), making it significantly more difficult to kill you for real?
Maybe you're only thinking of it saving your familiar's life by going inside your body--but it works in the other direction, too.

Generally, no. If you start at level 10 or close to it, maybe, since Twin Soul is pretty nice, but all the other abilities are pretty worthless.
Eh, I wouldn't go so far as to say worthless. As long as you are okay with not having an improved familiar those extra abilities become extremely powerful.
Transfer Feats - Don't knock this ability, it's surprisingly powerful especially if you are starting above 1st level. This ability has two potent choices -
1. It effectively lets you "bank" your extra feats until you qualify for one you want. Witches are the least feat focused class out there and this if used properly can let you have every useful major hex at 10th level if you wish.
2. Normal familiars only ever get a single feat choice their entire careers, yours can have as many as you choose to give him and you can change that feat layout whenever you want by dismissing and summoning a new familiar.
Familiar Form - It's an at will Beast Shape II spell (with minor limitations) that gives you some impressive combat abilities. Have a bird familiar, turn into a Large sized Roc or a AxeBeak (Terror Bird). Have a Fox familiar, turn into a Dire Wolf. Have a Compsognathus well hello Mr. MegaRaptor form.
And you get to keep ALL of your hexes in any form you take and with prep all your needed spells.
Twin Soul - It makes you immortal and nigh unkillable. As long as one of you or your familiar is alive the other cannot die by any means. Any amount of damage your body takes is irrelevant, you just possess another body and stay.
Think of all the nastiest tricks you've ever imagined with Magic Jar, now imagine it with NONE of the limitations of that spell.
On a Gish or Controller type Caster these abilities are insanely powerful.

I have to second what Mathwei ap Niall said.
Twin Soul is the most OPed ability in PF. Period. Its an at will permanent Magic Jar for you and your familiar. YOur target just... dies. And you get a shiny new body. Who needs improved familiar... your familiar is whatever you want him to be. RP wise you are immortal. If by some fluke you keep a body long enough for it to become old, then you again just get a new one.
