His stop-motion pioneering lead to many great movies and inspired future movie makers and special effects artists.

Yep, the skeleton fight in Jason and the Argonauts is up there with the classic moments of cinematic fantasy. Sad to hear he's gone, but he lived to a ripe old age and his films certainly gave me a lot of pleasure and influenced a lot of my personal interest in fantasy and the sort of imagery I took from it.

God, I was nearly floored when I heard the news. All those childhood memories just came rushing back.
I had always assumed he had passed away decades ago because I always thought of him as one of the "Classic Greats". Man his movies left a large footprint across so many of our childhoods. The Sinbad movies were my gateway to his work.
Here's hoping you're creating even wilder fantasies for others, Mr. Harryhausen. :)

Amazing artist and great guy. I've got a couple of Harryhausen collections in my DVD collection. My introduction was Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger. I LOVED that movie and the REAL Clash of the Titans. That Medusa blew my mind and really freaked me out. He brought a whole lot of magic to the movies. : )

Thank you, Ray! For all the special effects guys you inspired and all the imaginations you stirred with your wonderful creations. Rest in peace.
As a kid, every Saturday morning there was a "creature feature" movie on. I have to say I think 75% of them had a Ray Harryhausen monster or effect that just riveted me. This video probably recaps it best. Sorry if someone's already mentioned it.
