Bakeneko is the kind-hearted variant, Nekomata = the oni.

Actually no, both Bakeneko and Nekomata can be good or evil. Also I see these two as magical beast not outsiders. While I would like to see a catfolk based oni, I would prefer it to be called something else.

A Maneki-neko (beckoning cat) familiar would be AWESOME!
I would build a character around getting one.

Karl Shuker's blog is always worth following if you have an interest in cryptozoology, weird zoology, and monsters

His newest blog exercepts a section of his new book on dragon folklore, and discusses dragon-like creatures from Oceania

Dragons of Oceania.

Speaking of cryptozoology, does anyone know what creatures in B4 were based on cryptids?

Haniver Gremlin, Ningyo, Rat King, and Snallygaster are connected to Fortean Zoology, if not explicitly cryptozoology.

Nothing that clearly falls in the cryptid category I would say

Actually no, while Bakeneko may be good or evil, the sinister Nekomata (which is much better than Bakeneko) is never good or kind hearted.

Does D&D next already has a Monster Manual? I can't find reasonable information about it.

The way I see it they are extremly boring, just giving people one page with info on how to create your own monsters so a Monster Manual is not needed.

How more boring can you make it?

What does DnD Next have to do with anything?

And whywould they have a monster manual? Pathfinder also didn't have a Bestiary when it was in beta.

Don't tell me D&D Next still isn't out of the Beta? They are in it for 2 years now...

Gancanagh wrote:

They released a new packet last week IIRC.

I haven't seen any books released yet.

Ow I don't care for their products I only want their Monster Manuals and ONLY if there are no horrid Dragonspawn inside, i'm allergic to Dragonspawn, they give me the I-leave-your-product-for-a-better-new-one disease. They were actually the reason I went from D&D to Pathfinder, so they did something good with being such utterly uninspired creatures.

Sometimes, rarely new D&D monster manuals give me some inspiration and I just read about their new Merrow monster which I wanted to see... but anyway nevermind, didn't want to make an entire new topic about it because nobody would reply to topics made by me. THAT'S why I ask it here, so irritated souls will answer to me, something they wouldn't do in a topic made by me ;-)

MMCJawa how far are you on collecting stuff from this thread? Also were are you going to put this information?

Dragon spawn would be fine if done right, which they didn't do right, but I have faith that Paizo could do it right. Also now that I know that there are actual spawn of Tiamat from myth then I know it could be interesting.

If we actually got every cat themed monster ask for on this wishlist then Bestiary 5 would be the cat bestiary;)

In my eyes creatures based on the 5 rainbow dragons would never be right. The are overused on their own right, no need to push it further by giving them 10.000 variants.

With all due respect to Paizo, D&D Next seems to be more of a substantial change than Pathfinder was. Pathfinder was merely a tweaked version of 3.5.

PAIZO DEFENSE FORCE, ACTIVATE!

KTHULHU SPOTTED!

D&D Next is a kitbash of tweaked 2E, 3E and 4E, so it's kind of the same on the originality scale.

My list this year is easy.

200 creatures from myths, the other spots can be filled in with other creatures made by paizo themselves + Ravid, Phane and Crimson Death from D&D.

Yeah right.

If we got a kaiju-sized flumph I would be so happy.

Also, some sort of prism-based construct that can channel light for interesting effects would be groovy.

I'd like to see a few templates for Constructs. Maybe even a new/different Clockwork Template (ideally one that justified the bumped up cost). Maybe a customizable Construct or two like Animate Objects but a bit different.

That would be fun stuff.

Well really, my own wishes are really easy, just stuff from mythology.

My main wishes however aren't nice they are against other wishes, like the two above.

Maybe a template for animated objects(and other constructs) that grant them intelligence(plus skill points and feats) and fast healing like they were given a spark of life from the positive energy plane. In fact if they do get these benefits from the positive energy plane then they could also be repaired by positive energy effects at half there number value.

I think I am finally caught up on this thread, and just need to fix some formatting/edit, then I will unleash it.

Although I feel it might be less useful than I wish it was, because for space reasons the myth creatures are not really described, other than possible creature types and origin.

Now there's a creature I'd like to see. A kaiju flumph. While we're on the subject of kaiju can we get a clockwork-Mogaru kaiju? Or just some sort of clockwork kaiju in general.

Those are a few more things I'd like to see.

Elephant people. We can call them Tuskans.

But in all seriousness, I'd love to see more player races that are of a reasonable RP for them not to be OP.

Well it is a lot of work to look through this thread and sort stuff out.

Mecha Mogaru;)

Yeah especially when you must put things in like Kaiju Flumph. :-P

Crimson Death when in bestiary 5, should be above CR 10, we have enough low CR mist monsters already,I really wished the Hungry Fog was higher CR, but it isn't so Crimson Death should be just that.

Speaking of Flumphs, I would like to see more types or at least more creatures from there home world.

For some reason when I hear Tuskans I think walrus people not elephant people.;)

Alkonost(Russian)-Is a celestial creature with the head and breast of a beautiful woman and body of a brightly colored bird. It makes sounds that will cause you to forget everything you know and want nothing ever again.(outsider or magical beast)

Alicorn- Winged Unicorn(magical beast)

Alp(German)- Small Incubus like fairy that drinks blood but prefers breast milk.(fey)

Apsaras(Buddhist and Hindu)- female cloud spirit. Also called celestial maidens or celestial nymphs.(fey)

Boggart(English)- malevolent house spirit.(fey)

Bicorn- evil two horned unicorn like creature.(magical beast)

Cacus(roman)- Fire breathing giant.(humanion w/ giant and fire subtype)

Cat Sith(Scottish)-fairy cat(fey or magical beast)

Cu Sith(Scottish)-fairy dog(fey or magical beast)

Isn't the Bicorn just a Gemsbok?

Bicorn would be my mortal enemy, cuz it would probably mean the much better named Shadhavar and Karkadann are left out of pathfinder because of it being too similiar (being evil unicorn and all) as the rather simple named Bicorn.

Grand Lodge

After a forum search I haven't seen this in here anywhere yet, and I haven't seen it on the PRD, but I would love to see the Naagloshii in a future Beastiary. A skinwalker that feeds off of your fear and can even force a victim to become so afraid it kills them.

Some more types of Nagas would be nice.

I want to see creatures that feed on emotions but not just fear some that feed on love, hate, joy, despair, etc.

How about a sin eater, though that might be a better choice for a race book.

Concerning giants...

I'm really starting to get a little sick of elemental/geographic giants. Note that I am not trying to bash people that like them, and I do like the existing ones, I just feel there are enough. I feel like they are getting quite a bit redundant, though it wouldn't be such a big deal if there was not a really awesome alternative. Mythological giants. They could still have the giant subtype, and be classed as true giants, but are often beyond awesome. How about:

1.Antaeus
2.Jack In Irons
3.Black Tanamous
4.Agrios
5.Yeitso
6.Cacus
7.Firbolg
8.Siat
9.Chenoo
10.Hitotsu

It would be nice to see new types of Goblinoids, Orcs, and Ogres. It would be nice to have non-oni type ogres that can shapechange like in the myths and are still humanoid(giant).

Well considering they turned Argus into an aberration instead of a giant or titan then I wouldn't hold my breath about all of these guys being humanoid(giant) types. Though is a good chance that we will one day see them in some form or another.

Half-elemental template would be awesome.

Simple templates like celestial and fiendish but for animals(and other creatures) from the elemental planes, positive energy plane, negative energy plane, dimension of dreams, dimension of time, and the first world.

A plant based template that turns a creature into a non-fungus/mold plant creature. In other words a green plant with different traits to choose based on what kind of plant such as trees, vines, cacti, sea weed, flowers, etc.

Stats for the old adamantite (now known as adamantine) dragon, second edition version. The conversion of it into 4e resulted in the poor thing losing nearly everything that made it awesome. Sure, the 2nd edition version was by far the most powerful dragon in existence, but hey! They were cool. I imagine a Pathfinder version could easily be drummed up without losing the spirit of the original creature.

To be honest, a single joke entry is WAY easier to deal with when keeping up with these kinds of threads than when people spam the same list over and over. Multiple entries and long lists of duplicates are why I stopped trying to catalog the Bestiary 4 wishlist thread.

:D Fair enough!

(To be safe though, I wouldn't place any hefty bets.) ;)

I dream can't I;)

Native American Style Skinwalkers. the man eating fey shapeshifters of north America, not the current version in blood of the moon which is simply the offspring of a lycanthrope and a human

a half-human half-lycan race is interesting as an option, but my problem with the name, is it ruins my chances at getting one of my favorite fey creatures of native american mythology.

Silver Crusade

Some Improved Familiars

Owlcats- I made them up.
They're like owlbears, but they're housecat sized, super cute, and awesome familiars. Also, their babies are even CUTER than the adults, they're head-exploding into candy level cute of super kitten/baby owl fluffyness of cuteness.

Familiar sized, ugly cute Cthulhu creatures

I think it's a bit unfair that you only look at me angry for that, as Dragon78 does that a lot more than I do, mostly if I double-post creatures it is because I have new ideas about them or because others post about them.

Also MMCJawa is creating a list of all creatures from this thread, I will leave that unspoiled.

Also if you easily want to filter the double-posts out of it you can also use Microsoft-Excel... so I don't really understand the problem.

Wow sincubus that is the most guilt filled statement you have ever posted. You assumed they were talking about you and you would correct. You post the same stuff a lot more then I do.

I don't think Adam was calling out Sincubus specifically. Trust me he isn't the only offender, as someone who has been compiling them.

This.

Also, I'm not saying anyone is a bad person for posting repeating lists, just that it makes trying to keep up with it very difficult.

I repeated a lot in the bestiary 4 wish topic, but I read back this entire topic and I didn't really find much overlapping, mostly if I repeated a creature I added something about them and I repeated the list of creatures when bestiary 4 came out, but again I added something new.

Most of my other posts were argue with others or adding to others posts.

So no, I don't see myself as criminal in this case, that's why I was offended cuz it was a reply to my post.
