Timely / Gallant Inspiration

I really like the idea of the spells Timely/Gallant Inspiration - but is it just me or do they not stack with Inspire Courage as they are both competance bonuses? That seems to make them rather poor spells since they are bard only.

My bard took Gallant Inspiration, and the +2d4 seems decent for a level 2 spell, even though it does not stack with Inspire Courage.

It's guaranteed to be at least +2, with the possibility of as much as +8.

I used it in our last adventure. The gunslinger missed an attack, even with my +2 inspiration. Based on the roll, I guessed he was close, so I used Gallant Inspiration, and rolled 4 on the 2d4, resulting in a hit which killed the bearded devil he was fighting.
