Magic missile discharged after one use?

Rules Questions

Can you keep using magic missile consecutively if you dont cast other spells? Is it a ranged touch attack? sorry, I'm new. :)

The entry for magic missile shows it has a duration of "instantaneous," so no, it doesn't keep attacking after you cast the spell.

1. Nope. 2. No, they will hit automatically.

Okay, but is it discharged or can one cast it again the next round with only one magic missile prepared?

You can only cast a spell once for each time you have memorized it. In order to cast Magic Missile twice, you need to have prepared it twice.

Once you cast it, it's gone.

The general way the Pathfinder spell system works is that each spell you cast uses up a "slot", and you have a limited number of slots per day. Run out, and you're done casting spells.

That said, 0-level spells (for wizards, they're called "cantrips") are NOT used up once cast, so you can cast the same one each round for as many rounds as you like.

You can hit multiple targets (or a single one multiple times) with magic missile, once you reach a higher level and get more than one missile. I forget the exact progression though, my illusionist opposed evocation =/

okay, thanks everyone :)

Silver Crusade

It's not like a 4th ed 'At Will' or 'Encounter' power.

All spells in PF are like a 'Daily' power...but you get a lot more and of different levels, and you could have prepared the same spell more than once if you have the spell slots.
