Sorcerer / Dragon Disciple Flanking Buddy

Advice

Liberty's Edge

Hi all,

Our GM has decided to start up a gestalt level 8 Pathfinder campaign. Knowing this GM it will be brutal in terms of optimization needed.

I wanted to play a Sorcerer 5 / Dragon Disciple 3 // ?

My plan is to fill in the lost caster levels with the other side of the gestalt so I am still full casting levels.

Other than that I have 7 levels of choice, with 1 PrC max. Any suggestions for the other side?

My wife has requested I play a good flanking buddy for her Rogue. I guess Sorc / Rogue is possible, but does it make any sense?

Rogue isn't a terrible option at all. You will have something that most DD's won't have at all, and that's skills. Getting sneak attack is also a great idea to amp the damage, especially if you have a specific flanking buddy. If you go with the Thug Archetype, you will be able to frighten and sicken foes all day long, putting some great debuffs on your foes as you go.

I'd actually also go with the Copper Dragon for this. They are CG alignment, have a reputation for being a bit of tricksters and gain spider climb as a movement type for Form of the Dragon. Also, they do acid for their element, and that will allow you to get some ranged touch attacks through your spells that you can sneak with as well such as Acid Splash and Acid Arrow, making you more effective at range. Now that you get a bite attack as well, Picking up Nauseating Bite from the monster feat list is quite frankly a great option as well. In conclusion, you can make a fine DD with this Geshtalt.

Just about any class can be beneficial to you, but I would recommend 5 levels of Unarmed Fighter and Two levels of Master of Many Styles Monk if you want to be more of a melee beast (Hint: check out Dragon Style), or 7 levels of Alchemist for tons more options in combat if you don't want to do rogue, although the Vivisectionist Archetype for that can get you sneak attack as well. Seven levels of Paladin, Oracle or Barbarian are also good for various reasons.
