Calculating cost of magic items.

Rules Questions

Trying to figure out how exactly prices are added together.

+1 Fey Bane Cold Iron Battleaxe

MW Battleaxe 320
+1 costs 2000
Bane costs 2000 +1000 (2nd ability, +50%)
Cold Iron adds 2000

Did I forget anything or would the total be 7320 gold?

Masterwork Cold Iron Battleaxe is 300 (MW) +20 (10*2 battleaxe)

The magic cost is:
2000gp to overcome the cold iron
8000gp for +2 effective weapon

Total price tag: 10320gp

Explanation:
Masterwork weapons are 300gp

Original price of the Battleaxe (10gp) is doubled

Magic Weapon properties have either a flat GP cost listed in the property or a +bonus that is totaled with all other properties the weapon has. That total is compared to the chart.

In this case you have a +1 enhancement and a +1 special property for a total of +2 effective price (8000gp).

Battleaxe = 10 gp

Masterwork Weapon = +300 gp

+2 bonus (+1 enhancement, Bane special ability) = +8000 gp

Cold Iron = +100% Base weapon price (either 310 gp or just 10 gp, not sure here); +2000 gp for it being enchanted.

So grand total for purchase should be 10,320 - 10,620 gp.

Also, what Gauss said.

I see, so even if it says "Price +1 Bonus" I have to add up all the bonuses on it to determine its total cost.

How about adding enchantments to a +1 Battleaxe (or whatever weapon really)?

If its already +1 and I want to have it enchanted with Furious, for example - will it cost me 6000 to add Furious?

Original item is +1, which costs 2000 gold, newly enchanted item becomes +2 which is worth 8000 gold.

Weapons made of cold iron cost twice as much to make as their normal counterparts (not counting masterwork costs).

So, it is 320 for a Masterwork Cold Iron Battleaxe.

Kalandros,

Yes, you pay the difference to have it upgraded.

+1 Cold Iron Battleaxe = 4320gp
+2 Cold Iron Battleaxe = 10320gp
Difference = 10320-4320 = 6000gp.

You pay 6000gp to upgrade it to +2.
