Hi folks.
I played Conjurer (Summoners) from Living Greyhawk and the Summoner class was suggested to me.
Here he is so far:
Shiro
LG, Half-Elf Summoner 1
Favored Class: Summoner (+1/4 Evolution pt)
Str 14 Dex 14 Con 13
Int 12 Wis 10 Cha 13(15 with racial bonus)
HP 9 AC 15
F/R/W: +2/+2/+2
Traits:
Focused Mind-> +2 Concentration checks
Eyes and Ears of the City->Perception class skill at +1
Feats: Combat Reflexes
Skills: Craft +5 (sculpter), Perception +7, UMD +6
Concentration check: 1(lvl)+2(trait)+2(cha) = +5
Combat gear: Greatspear, Wooden Armor*, sling.
Noncombat gear: standard adventurer's gear (backpack, rope, sunrod, etc.)
*I took Wooden Armor because I thought it looks cool. :)
Spells Known:
0 - Acid Splash, Mage Hand, Mending, Message (unlimited/day)
1 - Enlarge Person, Sleep (Will 13) (2/day)
Tsumehime
Eidolon 1
Biped
Str 16(18) Dex 12 Con 13
Int 07 Wis 10 Cha 11
HP: 5.5 + 3(feat) + 1 (con) = 9
AC: 15
F/R/W: +3/+1/+2
Claw Atk: +5, 1d4+4, 20x2 (reach 10'). Full attack 2 claws.
When Enlarged: +5, 1d6+5, 20x2 (reach 15') Full attack 2 claws.
Feats: Toughness
Skills: Diplomacy+4, Heal+4, Knowledge (Planes)+2, Sense Motive+4
Evolutions:
01 - Reach (claw)
01 - Imp NA (+2 AC)
02 - Ability Increase (+2 Str)
For flavor I had the "claws" appear as blades that are in locked bracer/gauntlets. Like a certain red-headed green eyed half-vampire of video game fame.
I modeled him after the typical summoner from anime like Fate/Stay Night.
My thoughts:
=============
Skills are mediocre, but between the two, they has a decent spread of them.
Combat role is more support. Neither he nor his companion have the hp or defenses of a tank. Enlarge is for main fighter, or his companion if no tank is available for a fight. For control he can drop the Sleep bomb. Debated on Combat Reflexes versus Toughness, but figured having threat with reach, even with his so-so atk is of more value.
Acid Splash is used for range attacks if needed. Low damage, but better to hit, especially if he's firing into melee and taking the -4 penalty.
Plan on re-evaluating each session (especially the Combat Reflexes vs. Toughness). Once before he's level 2, he will retrain a bit more into Charisma if he finds himself using more save or else spells.
Suggestions, changes, keep him or scrap him?
Thanks in advance!

Eidolon are very capable of taking the combat role. If you were quadraped I'd suggest taking pounce first thing, but I'm not keen on bipeds really. The bipeds I've seen all use a big 2 hand.
You can get one more natural attack to add to your full attack at this or the next level. Bite is pretty cheap and good for a vampire type thingy, but I'm not keen on it myself.
For later on you probably want to get an Amulet of Mighty Fist to boost your natural attacks, and possibly the Eldritch Claws feat in order to bypass damage reduction. You'll also probably want to carry around a crossbow for when spells aren't an option(with bludgeoning bolts of course! pesky skeletons) and upgrade that wood armor to chainmail.
Are you planning to melee with this guy? If so your looking pretty MAD(multiple attribute dependancy) and if not you might want to drop that strength a bit.

you are missing on an available third attack. I suggest giving her the claw evolution one additional time for the legs and flavor this third strike as a spinning kick or some other cool move.
You can drop the +2 str asnd use the additional point to get improved damage for the claw. Tha damage whould be the same (1d6+3 instead of 1d4 +4), but you will get 3 attacks at +4 instead of 2 at +5.

You can't reconceptualize items/abilities in PFS. They are what they are. Gauntlets are armor, so the eidolon cannot actually wear them. Just make them normal claws.

The eidolon is whatever you want it to be however! The eidolon is a wierd case where it really is whatever. Claws is claws, even if their gauntlets attached to a strange vague manifestation of a vague plane.
I'd hate to see a world where all eidolons were the same and generic...

Thanks for all the suggestions and corrections folks!
Can't wait to see how well he does next adventure.
Equipment-wise, added a sling and 10 bullets. Just in case he cannot case Acid Splash.
Swapped out Sleep for Shield. His control will be the fact that both he and his Eidolon's have reach. Unless there's another spell highly recommended for level 1 (daze monster maybe?)
Changed evolutions to
1-Reach (claw)
1-Improved Natural Armor
1-Improved Damage(claw)
Clawx2 +4 atk, 1d6+3, 20x2, Reach 10'
If Enlarged, +4 atk, 1d8+4, 20x2, Reach 15'
Debated on going more offense and taking slam (base 1d8) instead of Improved Natural Armor. But it didn't work thematically with her 'bladed' concept. I suppose also as a pet, GMs will happily focus fire on her so a little extra defense doesn't hurt. ;)
Leveling up plans:
Level 2
Retraining ideas
Melee will be less of a role for the summoner now that he has a bit more spell flexibility.
Drop Str (12?) Bump Con or Cha.
Drop Combat Reflexes for Extra Evolution.
New spells:
0-Detect Magic
1-Grease (for control)
Eidolon changes
02 Improved Strength. (1 pt from level, 1 pt from feat)
Now Claw attacks are +2(BAB) +4(Str) = +6 atk, 1d6+4, 20x2, reach.
Drop Toughness feat for Combat Reflexes.
Thanks again!

I will imagine my eidolon however I want, thanks.

By all means, you can make the eidolon into whatever you want in your head. "The eidolon’s physical appearance is up to the summoner, but it always appears as some sort of fantastical creature."
...but for PFS, the physical appearance cannot go beyond the abilities of the creature because you cannot reskin in PFS. For instance, in Rerednaw's case, he wants the claws to be blades locked in gauntlets. He can't do it because in PFS, claws are claws and eidolon's cannot wear armor (which gauntlets are). This is a small point, but one that should not be ignored.

Well of course they only look liked blades attached to gaunlets and armor. Its the actual shape of the monster. It takes that form to look more comfortable to you. Its real form has more tentacles.

Pt cost on your summoner is 18 points.
Recomend Str 14 Dex 14 Con 14
Int 12 Wis 10 Cha 13(15 with racial bonus)Mage armor is recomended over shield.
HP for Eidolon is maximized for 1st level. HP=10+3(toughness)+1(con).
animal companions and eidolons do not have maximized HP, only characters do. starting eidolon has 5.5 HP rounded down to 5, plus con modifiers etc.

asthyril wrote:would be worth looking into getting the feats spell focus-conjuration and augment summoning, if youre going to focus on that at all.Could you be more specific please? How does this help? Thanks!
augment summoning would make any of your summons using your spells or summon monster spell like ability have +4 str and +4 con (not your eidolon though). spell focus is just the prereq for it, and incidentally would add +1 DC to your grease spells or any other offensive conjuration spells you may cast.

a) gauntlets are not armor, they do not appear on the armor list, do not give an AC bonus, therefore eidolons can wear them all they want.
b) as long as they cannot be removed, and are part of the eidolons body, they can look like whatever he wants them to look like. you cannot claim that he is reskinning 'claws' when 'claws' is never defined as to what they look like, because it is always the player that determines what the eidolon looks like, including claws, wings, or whatever else is decided on.
