Hello to all,
i was wondering how a bard (dervish of Dawn) could get shield spell?
other question does the eldrich heritage feat allow the bard to get more spell known ? (i don't think it does but i am just checking)
is there the equivalent in PF to the Lyric Feat from Complete Adventurer (AD&D 3.5)?
tks in advance
(overall goal is to make a decent melee / face/stealth char for a rise of rune lord)

A ring of spell knowledge type 2 will allow you to add it to your list. May also have to buy a scroll of it.
Eldritch heritage alone does not grant extra spells but if you take the arcane bloodline then the improved version will.
There is no version of the Lyric feat but there is Spellsong and Harmonic performance which allow you to use performances and spells in conjunction and even hide the spell you are casting.

A one level dip in Fey Sorcerer can gets you a bunch of useful goodies. It can be a solid choice for any bard.
You get 4 more Cantrips, Eschew Materials, 3+ level 1 sorcerer spells, +2 to the DC of all compulsions, the ability to use any wizard wand or staff without making a UMD check, and laughing touch.
Laughing Touch is a great SLA for a one level dip, since it is a touch attack with no save.

Since asthyril suggested a staff, how does that work with Use Magic Device?
the exact same way it works for wands. DC 20 umd check. they are both spell trigger items.
Use a Wand, Staff, or Other Spell Trigger Item: Normally, to use a wand, you must have the wand's spell on your class spell list. This use of the skill allows you to use a wand as if you had a particular spell on your class spell list. Failing the roll does not expend a charge.
