Dwarven Clans

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Ok so one of my players is playing a Dwarven paladin and im doing all the research to make sure there all sticking in the lore and such.
Such as he is a paladin of torog so he has to tie rings into his beard as one of the common traits of that deity.

Now he cant decide on his last name and I offerd to find a notible dwarven clan for him to be apart of... however i cant seem to figure out ware to look so i was hoping anyone here well versed in galarion lore may help.

Im not looking for like a clan thats super in your face ultra important like a king or somthing... just one that has some creed to it or would be a neat tie in to the world.

even a neat clan from the origonal D&D as a reference would be good too.

I am sure you have, but I'd suggest Dwarves of Golarion. A great race book that has tons of information on that sort of thing. If you have checked there, there isn't much I can offer you. These games don't favor strong dwarven lore because it is so set in Tolkien-era and no one really changes it. Paizo has done a cool thing with the Sky fortresses but that might have been a 3.5 thing.

I also suggest making your own strong dwarven clan.

Also if you want, I'll warmingly invite you to join the Stonehand family, my Stonelord Paladin, Rogar Stonehand is a Paladin of Torag that struck out in the world after feeling a strong connection to Torag and hating to see people get hurt(Greatly paraphrased). The Stonehand family was very much against this as they are a long line of brewers and tavern owners. Rogar not being able to totally forsake his family ties for the calling of Torag uses his fame and expenses to help spread Stonehand taverns across the Inner Sea such that they also operate as places of lodging for the poor and infirm in times of need.

Well iv looked high and low online to any reference to dwarven nobility in golarion and turned up empty handed... I may have to take you up on that offer.

I looked a bit into dragonlance and a few games for a fun reference but couldnt find anything substantial...

I did use Kogain the dwarf from baulders gates last name for one of my NPCs (( also a guild master of a caravan protection group ))

Oh perfect, yeah Dwarves of Golarion is a great little book and has a decent amount of information about the Beard culture. Its truly fascinating.

Yeah if you are gonna find a Dwarven surname it'll be in expanded universe lore. Trying to find something that isn't kingly, that'd be more difficult.

I'd suggest Dragon Age 1 for the xbox 360/ps3/PC they have a huge and pretty rich Dwarven section of the game and you can probably find it for like 10$ online or at gamestop or any store that sells used games.
