Rime spell

Advice

Liberty's Edge

I was doing some planning ahead for a Dervish Bladebound Magus. Like most, I planned on doing a good bid of Frigid Touch once I hit level 2 spells.

Is it worth it to get "Rime Spell" if I took the Metamagic Mastery trait?

My party consists of: Myself, shielded fighter, ninja, bard, conjurer wizard. Rime spell would replace indomitable faith trait and extra arcane pool feat. So, I'd be giving up +1 will saves and 2 arcane pool pts per day for a free entangle.

Is entangle even worth anything at higher levels?

Since every power build I see seems to have rime spell, I suppose it would be good.

I tend to avoid things that I see in every single power build posted.

Liberty's Edge

"power build" as in strength-based magi or optimized?

I don't have a ton of characters and this particular one is for an ongoing home campaign, so I should have him barring death for a long time. I'd like to know from an optimization point of view.

"Optimized".

Rime Spell is an excellent feat if you specialize in cold based magic. It helps to lock down enemies and control the battlefield, but it is best used on ranged AOE spells. As a touch-additive I might prefer Dazing Spell since it prevents action rather than curtailing movement, which protects the caster a little better.

Dazing spell is a +3 metamagic adjustment. It's basically for full casters only. Rime is a +1. A 6 level caster can do that no problem.
