I want to ensure you that my administration takes this Kim-Jong-Un very seriously. I have taken measures to deal with this threat, steps that fit the level of threat posed by the Oompa Loompa nation of North Korea. If The Searchers should detect any actual threat to the safety of this nation, or our friends in the South, we will deploy a special strike force that will neutralize said threat with minimal loss of innocent life.
Prepare Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers for deployment.

Sigh... why waste an opportunity for full scale nuclear war, eh? Especially as China will LOVE having a nuke burst right across their border. And, as China specifically said that Bush shooting down satellites invalidated their treaty on not firing first. Seriously, people, you not only elected THAT guy as head honcho, you REELECTED him???
Thanks to the history in american decision-making, this will likely be verrry interesting for everybody.

Oh yeah, one more thing: The people of North Korea did not elect their head moron. America did. Even so, certain people actually think it's a good thing that millions of people get killed? Makes me feel ashamed to belong to the same species as such people.
I'm not prepared to nuke them, just liberate them from Duke Stupid the third.

Are we talking about America or North Korea with this one?

Kinda funny, or do I mean tragic? But you could apply that last line to just about every 'western democracy' - 32% in the UK, and here they are stiffing the people in the name of big business. North Korea? Oh, right some share-holders might not get a dividend so lets get rid of a world leader.

And N. Korea would be worse. At least to start with. They could do an awful lot of damage to South Korea before they got crushed.
No spending months building up a coalition and staging forces. Once they knew they were going down, they'd probably strike first. It would have to be a surprise. Which they know and makes the war games with South Korea a bit more scary.

Well no one actualy elected the N. Korean leader...people don't actual get a vote in dicatorships.
How did America elect him?

I read that as "The people of North Korea didn't elect their head moron. The people of America did elect theirs."
And regardless of who's threatening, it would become our fault if we nuked them in response to those threats.

Ok...that makes a little more sense. Yes we did elect Obama though there are checks against his power.

I'm not advocating a pre-emptive nuking in response to mere threats and bluster. I do advocate nuking them if they nuke us. MAD right now favors the major powers.
Sooner or later, certainly sooner than the major powers want, various other states will attain a nuclear arsenal of their own and join the Nuclear Club. Once India and Pakistan joined the Club, the rest of the world's eyes figuratively lit up and realized that it is possible even for "lesser" states. If Pakistan could do it, anyone can.
Membership in the 'Nuclear Club' in nations-scale seems to be considered what is required to be 'taken seriously' by the major powers.
If we're lucky, we'll only have Cold War II.
If we're not, a very short World War III could easily ensue, either 'after' Cold War II ... or pre-empting Cold War II altogether.
Then we'll all be playing out a live action post-apocalypse campaign...

We can't lose focus here! We have a dire situation, and like it or not, WE are going to have to solve it! This is what we will be remembered for. What really SHOULD be done here?
You are right we should start developing and agreeing on the rules for this live action post-apocalypse campaign we might all find ouselves playing soon. I mean we probably won't have time when the missiles start firing.
