How does Adaptive Luck (alternate Halfling racial trait):
"Some halflings have greater control over their innate luck. This ability gives them more options for how they can apply their good fortune from day to day, but also narrows its scope. Three times per day, a halfling can gain a +2 luck bonus on an ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. If halflings choose to use the ability before they make the roll or check, they gain the full +2 bonus; if they choose to do so afterward, they only gain a +1 bonus. Using adaptive luck in this way is not an action. This racial trait replaces halfling luck."
stack with the Halfling Opportunist's Exceptionally Lucky (Ex)
"At 2nd level, a halfling opportunist learns how to squeeze even more from her innate luck. Her halfling racial bonus on saving throws increases to +2. This bonus increases to +3 at 4th level."
Would you just get a +1 bonus and then +2? Or is there something that gives you more +2 luck bonus choices per day?

RAW, it would give you nothing, as far as I can see. Talk with your GM.
Hm, that's a bummer. I'm playing PFS, so it's not really something we could house rule in. It'll be several weeks yet before I can break off into the Prestige Class, but I'm just hitting level 2 now so I need to firm up my decisions.

It could go either way. Technically it can't improve an ability you don't have, but in most other PrCs that improve abilities, you gain one if you didn't previously have it. It does say "improves", so maybe you get a +1 bonus instead of +2 if you took an alternate trait.
Regardless, I doubt you'd be able to have an alternate trait AND the full +2.

Dark powers of threadcromancy I summon though to give this thread new wind:
No news on this front, right? I mean obviously RAW you gain nothing, but it could be clarified to mean it gives a +1 to all saves that stacks with the bonus given by halfling...
that way you could become more halfling like with practice as a human with the racial heritage feat that became a "halfling" opportunist :D

I'm not sure what the issue is.
Exceptionally lucky improves your racial bonus to saving throws. It specifically improves the halfling luck ability which grants a racial bonus.
Adaptive luck is a luck bonus.
Exceptionally Lucky and Adaptive Luck are incompatible.
There is nothing to FAQ or clarify.
If you plan on going into halfling opportunist don't swap out halfling luck.
