PFS Start at Level 7 Character Ideas

Advice

Sczarni

So, I am DM'ing the Thornkeep module, and will have a character who will be level 7 when I'm finished. He will have the 3 first steps, all 5 parts of the Thornkeep Module, and likely 1 more level 7ish, all as GM certs.

I'm trying to think of any character ideas that really are hard to enjoy at low levels, but come together around level 7.

I will have ~32000 starting gold from all my certs, but only 28 prestige so I will be limited to no single item being more than 11,750 (none of the cert items are really that intersting so nothing to really add to my list of available items). (Unless there is a potion using build, then there is a 2k item that ups the caster level of all potions placed in it by 2)

Originally I had thought of adding this all to my Shield/Shield ranger to get past that hump of level 6 to use my shields enh bonus to attack and damage, but with a loss of 10 prestige for the 5 parts, that idea was discarded.

Any suggestions please with basic gear advice?

Thoughts on Bill? This was one option I was kicking around based on some other threads...and no the mysterious stranger doesn't really strike me as worth it for one level...also the loss of deadeye for for an extra d6 with the Pistolero didn't sound that great when compared to using deadeye to get touch AC for the 2nd range increment...with distance on the gun that means a touch attack up to 80 ft (with the penalty on the 2nd increment).

Unless someone has another build that doesn't work till level 7ish.

Ok, for one, and this is sort of minor... get a mix of bullets/cartridges. Unless you are looking at a shortage of cash, make all of your bullets at least cold iron.

Also, since you odn't have rapid shot, it appears, you won't have any need to go with alchemical cartridges at this time. You can reload as a move action, so can shoot and fire in a single round. For sure, get yourself some adamantine and silvered bullets, and for sure use cold iron as your base rounds. Remember, using the paper cartridges will make it 500% more likely to misfire than without (a pistol goes from a 1 to a 1-5, right?)

I would also try and switch something out to give yourself Weapon Finesse, if you plan to be fighting melee at any time. You've got a great DEX but won't be taking advantage of it without the Finesse. I'd switch out disruptive, since you aren't a 6th level fighter (unless I am missing a way for you to get it in another way).

Don't worry too much about Grit, because with a WIS of 10, you will only have 1 point. You never want to be without this, in case of a misfire. At least that is my opinion.

Skill-wise, I'd probably try an pump up Perception (always useful), but that's up to you...

The plan is to not melee much but have a weapon in case...considering s cestus but it disrupts spell casting I think.

Disruptive is a bonus feat that is preselected.
Alchemical cartridges only add 1, and with it being a free action I can move and shoot.
Normally I would get all ammo as cold iron for bows/xbows, but unless I'm mistaken, RAW a paper cartridge can only be normal right?
