Help creating 4 NPCs

Advice

I have to create 4 NPCs for a module campaign I'm running in 2 weeks, and I'm not sure how to do that since I'm a new DM (and I wish the module would have actually just built these important NPCs for me since they take part in battle!).

One is a level 4 expert (sailor). One is a level 2 commoner. One is a level 2 warrior. The last one is a level 6 ranger. All take part in battles in the module, possibly directly with the PCs, yet it doesn't give stats for them...

Halp! Thanks :)

okay, as GM you should be able to build these. Theire are only npc-classes, no special mechanisms and I jsut let you know that you REALLY should now how to do that for a lot of reasons before you start GMing.

If you want, message me and I can build the npc's for you this weekend and walk you through the process. I'm trying to get practice at statting up npcs and this sounds like a good exercise. PM me with any details if this interests you; if not, I'll just post instructions on how to stat up npc's when Im not on my phone...and if someone else doesn't beat me to it xP

@Wasum: How is that helpful at all? He/she is asking for help and instead you say "Oh, you shouldn't need help, figure it out?"

If you don't want to stat up your own npc's, might I suggest looking at some pregens on the d20pfsrd.com website? If you go there, scroll down until you see the Bestiary listings on the left side. Under there you will see a link to NPCs. If you click on that link it will take you to a page where you can search for various pregen NPCs of all shapes and sizes.

The website as a whole is a great resource to GM's. It's good to familiarize yourself with it at least. Good luck!

I assume that you have played before and know the basics of creating a character?

This page http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/npc-classes/non-player-characters explains in detail how to create an NPC, what stats to use and how much gear to give them.

Just treat it as if you were creating a normal PC to play - BUT keep it simple.

I'm just saying that this something you should have figured out before playing. I didnt mean to be rude, I'm just saying that creating low level npcs (especially with npc classes) is something that takes like 5 minutes per character, maybe even less. You dont even need the rulebooks as you just have to write down bab/save progressions and give them some kind of array. Its not much work at all and my advice is to figure out how to do that as its crucial for playing pathfinder. He needs to know whether the PCs hes playing with are built legally and what they are able to do.

Ranger6 might require some help if he does not want to read the texts of the class description, yea, but I guess when he's able to create NPCs he will manage that as well. But in that case help might be speed things up, I agree.

I just have as lot on my plate between work, reading the module and getting that down perfectly, and then reading/understanding/learning all 5 of the PCs in the group. Learning how to create several NPCs on top of that just feels really burdening even though it's probably not.
