Brainstorming of what I was disppointed by in other games.

If any of these have been addressed, I apologize in advance.

Good vs. Evil. I would so love to see real behavior with real consequences. I hate the concept of race vs. race equating good vs. evil like humans vs. orcs as the only way in which characters can distinguish alignments.

And I was sorely disappointed in the SWTOR lightside vs. darkside choices, none of which had any impact on the game other than available equipment and the occasional minor dialogue change from and NPC. It simply didn't matter.

I have no idea what you are shooting for as far as a rating, but I am hoping for an MA rating. Let good be good by showing mercy, charity compassion, sacrifice, ect. And let towns whose citizens and leaders have laws corresonding with those virtues.

But let evil be evil. Too many game make evil very one dimensional...you are simply a psychotic killer...which is fine, but it is also shallow. Include slavery, forced prostitution, torture, mugging, brutality and you will have a much deeper game and a much deeper gaming experience for both good and evil.

And let many towns and people fall inbetween.

Character creation...Please please please let in be indepth. Faces, bodies, I think a lot of player like me really enjoy making their own unique look. WOW is horrible about it. And SWTOR, almost everyone of the same class eventually looks the same..except for maybe the color. And add variants of the same armor. Make different types of full plates, and make it easy for the charater to modify them either themselves or have them pay craftsmen for their own paticular look. Better yet, give characters who decide to be armor smiths actually have a say on how their armor looks!

And make some unique items for the game. Who says everything has to be fair? What if a mage risked the wilds exploring and found an ancient cavern ontop of a mountain with a wonderously powerful staff no one else in the game had. Think of the power he could wield..think of the fear or wonder that character could do, but more importantly think of all who see him use it an covet it.

Mounted combat please! Would love to play a knightly character and charge the field with a lance for once.

Linneage....why not let characters have children they can add to their account. Give those children bonuses in correspondence of what level their parent was when they had them.

PVP, obviously it will be a core element of the game. But don't add things like PVP zones where people play capture the flag and idiotic stuff like that. IF people want to PVP in that type of element...offer tournaments like jousting, gladiator areans, and so on.

Character owned structures, whether it be a stronghold, castle or town. Why not, for currency of course, offer the services of NPCs to guard the place and give the owner/owners the option of how to equip and train them.

Thanks, that is all I could come up with for now.

You would be best served by skimming through the blogs. Most of your points are addressed within them. You could just search the forums on each topic, but weeding through all the posts would take a while.

I think there's been a fair bit of talk about uniques. Consensus seems to be that they should involve finding a unique material and having to locate a skilled crafter to make it into something awesome. Involve both sides of the board.

I agree with with much of what you suggest.

I'll comment on one point which may not be easy for you to find: Rating.

The content in the game will keep with the content you experience in other Pathfinder products. From what I remember from the comments of those familiar with Pathfinder, there is more in the IP than would be admissible in a Teen rated game, but less than is allowed in an MA rated game. I'm pretty happy with that. If I'm not mistaken, the last time Ryan addressed this point he was thinking he would simply release the game as Not Rated, bypassing the whole expensive, painful process completely.

And here's my attempt to be Nihimon: Ryan's Statement

There was a lot of discussion in Targeted ESRB Rating?.

Both of these are on the first page:

Ryan Dancey wrote:
I am not sure at this point if we'll even bother with ESRB or other ratings. They're only necessary if you want to sell a game through traditional Rick & mortar retailers.
Vic Wertz wrote:
ESRB rating or not, Paizo will not be approving content that would be inappropriate for the average 13-year-old.

That's the one! Thanks guys, I thought those comments were made in some random thread, so didn't even bother to search for the source =P

I like the maturity rating idea. Although, I doubt we will see too many youngins playing this game. Probably too in dept or complex for most... Not saying they couldnt do it, because I know they could, I dont think most will take the time.

We won't see them at first, because PF-PLEX won't be available yet. Lots of kids play EVE, however, avoiding charges with in-game earnings.

I do remember a quote somewhere about EVE players skewing older than many of their competitors, so maybe we'll see that here, too.

Yeah, I only ever met one person in Eve that was under 20. I think he was 17.

I think once release is announced and its also announced that there will be PvP all the time with player looting, we will get a flood of kids, both in mind and body.. They may not hang around a long time, but I think they will come.

Well then lol, I shall farm them and make sure they have a warm welcome.

Anyway...

I want to play a cavalier/knight. That would be awesome.

Welcome Valtorious! This is a great community and a great game to look forward to!

I don't like subscriptions to games. I like free-to-play.

There, fixed that for you :)

Cliff notes for the new guy. Ni correctly noted it would be nice to have our own name for the PFO's version of EVE's PLEX. "Goblin Balls" was nominated as the crowd forge favorite...

That's assuming that you and Valtorious are not the same person. ;)

Goblin Squad Member

Probably not. Actually, I probably don't have any alts. I am sure I am just kidding.

Goblin Squad Member

Oh no, it wasn't nominated as a crowd-forged favorite; it is the placeholder that we will use to get GW to give it a name so that we can stop calling it the 'PLEX-like item'

Valtorious and Soldack are not the same person.

And Soldack will not like PFO (at least by this quote) LOL

I don't think its clear yet what the exact pricing model will be, but Ryan clearly stated the future is free to play.

Goblin Squad Member

He clearly stated, the free to play model PFO will be following is Goblin Balls.

@Hroderich Gottfrei - our thoughts on "playing for free" are evolving. There will be some form of free play, that's a requirement in today's market where people want to try an MMO before they put in any money.

How long you can play without paying anything is something we're thinking about. We don't want a game full of folks who trained for 6 months, got reasonably competent, and are now playing without producing any revenue.

Goblin Squad Member

Haha, I knew GW would click to that but I didn't mention it just in case :P
