Google Reader going away ... recommendations for replacement?

I used to use Outlook for my RSS feeds, but jumped to Google Reader a year or so back, as it was much easier to use. Will also be looking for a replacement.

Great suggestion ... except when it comes to RSS feeds. ;)

Seriously, I don't want to go the Outlook route and would prefer not to try various readers over the next few months blindly; ideally I would prefer some recommendations as a starting point.

I use RSS Live Links (Chrome) for my PbP and forum feeds, but I too would prefer something more similar to Google Reader for catching up on blogs and webcomics.

Thanks Laithoron. I will definitely check out that one, though Firefox is my browser of choice currently (FF, Chrome/Safari ... IE for cross-browser testing only).

anyone know of a decent cross-browser option or a FF option that would be worthwhile?

So far I've been looking at Flipboard (for Android and my iPad) and Feedly.

Looks like Feedly is going to be the way to go.

I've been trying out Feedly. I haven't figured out how to configure it the way I want, but it seems to be working fine.

I'll take a look at Flipboard for the mobile devices (I do have a friend here in WNC who swears by it for his iPad).

On the laptop/tower front, it looks like Feedly will be the first to try out. Will most likely give it a go this weekend and will post feedback here.

EDIT: Feedly also has an iOS and Android capability ... I may have to look at this as well as Flipboard ...

Check out rssowl. When I was reading about 50 different feeds I used it a lot. Before that I was using bloglines which is/was very good. I changed as it was going to die but I think it's been bought out (I also stopped because I was trying to cut my news addiction at that point). Maybe I'll start using it again hmmm.
