Can I Change feats?

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

I chose the metamagic feat Elemental spell under the pretense that I could take advantage of the WildBlooded Bloodline Linnorm Crag. For the Natural Armor bonus equal to Fire Spell level. I have recently discovered that i cant substitute Force Damage with such a feat. I play PFS and he's now level 7, The Elemental feat is now effectively useless for the purpose of which it was Originally intended. Can I change Feats now, or am I completely screwed?

Since you seem to have chosen an ineligible energy type (force) I would imagine your next GM would allow you to change that during your next session to acid, cold, electricity, or fire. Having the GM initial the change on your chronicle sheet isn't a bad idea.

In PFS, you can't replace feats unless you have an ability which allows this (like the fighter Bonus Feats class feature), or a few other specific circumstances (1st level 'retraining', banned archetype, some fancy boon I've heard about).

We have a house rule allowing a player to change one feat each level. This rule is simply to encourage more funny builds. This is exactly to avoid the situation that you are describing, where you suddenly get stock in a bad situation that will follow your character for the rest of the game.

He is PFS...so that is of absolutely no use.

As for swapping the feat out...yeah unless you have a retrain boon or the feat gets banned, your kinda outa luck there.

As for the feat being useless...HOW?!? So your ability gives you + natural armor based on fire spells right? So yeah, you can't choose the broken force damage type...but your HIGHLY resisted/immune fire spells can be made into the much MUCH less resisted/immune acid or electricity so I utterly fail to see how this makes you utterly screwed.

It's useless because he chose an invalid energy type. If he is allowed to change that to acid, cold, electricity, or fire then it'll work like normal.

Linnorm Bloodline Arcana: "Whenever you cast a spell with an energy descriptor that matches your linnorm bloodline's energy type, you gain a natural armor bonus equal to the spell's level for 1d4 rounds."

Elemental Spell doesn't change the descriptor, just the damage, so even if he took Elemental Spell (Fire) it would only make his lightning bolt deal fire damage, it wouldn't give him a natural armor bonus because the descriptor is still [electricity].

He mentioned both the bloodline and force damage, so I'm not sure what he was really trying to do.

Me neither, hence my current predicament, I was new to Pathfinder. The "Descriptor" thing escaped me until recently. I Failed to detail the fact I used the Elemental Spell to substitute Magic Missiles force dmg with Fire, in fact I succeeded in doing this a few times. Especially against Yetties. To the effect it only helped Damage, not my AC, though I did roll for it.

The GM didn't say anything so I didn't know I was in the wrong at the time. But now I know I find use of the Elemental Spell to be quite... Useless. Especially since I use Fireball and various other Fire spells.
I see how my previous explanation was confusing, I apologize, so it seems I'm stuck with a bad decision I made when I started out.
