PoC Character Art

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I like gathering fantasy art to illustrate my homebrew world to my players. I'm trying to build a culture (or preferably more than one, if I can find good art to differentiate things like clothing styles or architecture) inspired by elements of various African cultures, and I'm having trouble finding a lot of art of black or brown fantasy characters that don't just go the lazy route of loincloth-and-spear.

Paizo has one of the most diverse campaign settings I've ever seen, and I've already found some great art, but I'm trying to find more art of persons of color from some of Paizo's products.

Would you guys mind pointing out some Paizo products that contain art that might be useful to me? Based on what I've seen so far, it looks like characters who are Garundi or Mwangi are most likely to be in the right vein.

Sadly, we have only three books specifically covering territories in Garund (Our Sargava and Osirion companions, and our Heart of the Jungle campaign setting book), and the art is a mixed bag for racial representations. We do try to ensure everyone gets represented in our general character art, and especially so in character-heavy products like the Advanced Race Guide and the NPC Codex.

Our Inner Sea World Guide has some very nice pieces, including one of my favorite character illustrations regardless of race on page 169 (featuring a Garundi wizard). Lost Kingdoms delves into a lot of Garundi empires of the past, but only depicts two NPCs of color (to be fair, it only depicts a half-dozen NPCs in total). The Advanced Race Guide has an outstanding fire cleric wearing Egyptian-inspired gear, the NPC Codex features characters and gear from a variety of cultures, and Isles of the Shackles and the Skull & Shackles AP in general features many Garundi and Mwangi NPCs, though admittedly most of them are pirates rather than representing their original cultures.
