[Jehova's Arena, Test] Fight the Twenty-Sixth, Aurum vs. Arak

Play-by-Post

Continuing in the trend of new guys, Aurum and Arak are both fresh into the pit, but are already drawing some cheers from the crowd for simply looking like they expect pit-fighters to look. They take their muscled places in their designated spaces.

Aurum A10, Arak L10, initiatives and flexing, please.

Male Hobgoblin

Mean, ugly, hulking and brutish, the Hobgoblin before you enters with a bottle in hand and a smirk on his face.

inti. 7
"Come meet my blades!"

Male Hobgoblin

Arak wears breastplate carrys two long swords and something like a greatsowrd across his back, full description in profile

A small man of about 5'7" stands across the field of battle. Calm and peaceful he wears a small smile reminiscent of an indulgent grandfather with a rambunctious child. He wears simple robes and carries a satchel at his waist. His only other adornments is a gleaming golden sword curved forward in an odd fashion.

A pleasure to meet you blades. I will enjoy dancing with you.

Arbiter:
Initiative 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Init. 8

Surprise Round Actions

Aurum shifts his feet and moves into a graceful stance, sword held aloft and other hand balanced to the side.

Arbiter:
Move into Crane Style as swift action and begin to Fight Defensively as Standard action.

You're up Arak! Good Luck!

Male Hobgoblin

To you as well may blood anoint your blade

"Sush, pretty words will be shattered by my fists!"

Arak chugs the bottle in his hand smashes it on the ground and drwaws the two ill-matching long swords

arbiter:

end surprise round for Arak, you're up.

Aurum begins a slow spin of his golden sword whipping back and forth.

Aurum walks calmly forward a few feet, continuing his calm demeanor and says Then show me. At which point he extends his hand and gives you a quick "Come on then" motion.

Arbiter:
Swift action to add Snake Style. Continue fighting defensively. Move action to C9

Move to C9

End of Round 1 for Aurum. Your turn Arak.

Male Hobgoblin

In a surge of power and blood lust Arak rushes forward like a great beast.
Jumping at the peak of his charge bringing both blades down in wide sweeping arks aimed at this puny creatures chest.

Aurum slips back and forth around the whirling weapons before returning with a vicious strike of his own.

Arbiter:
Attack with Temple Sword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Male Hobgoblin

Crit hits but unconfirmed, do you not provoke AoO?

For what?

No AoO triggered, it was just regular attacking.

Aurum Only:
Are you fighting defensively still, and was that penalty factored in to your attacks?

Male Hobgoblin

very well then

Arak lunges forward

arbiter:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 101d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 First attack. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Second attack.

and a whole lot of nothing...
Attack One. 10...
Attack Two. 13......

.....I am not sure I can handle the humiliation..

Arbiter:
Yes I am still fighting defensively and the penalty is figured into my attacks. To further clarify unless stated otherwise I am ALWAYS fighting defensively. :-)

Begin Round 3

Aurum continues to dodge and weave like a striking snake before lashing out with his sword again.

Arbiter:
Attack with Temple Sword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Arak scoffs at the twist of fat and redoubles his assault as the slicing arc of the monks blade bounces off his armor.

arbiter:
Attack one1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Attack two1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Male Hobgoblin

Your attack also misses, this is shameful.

Ha! Your puny attacks can't even scratch me!

arbiter:
Attack 1:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 Attack 2:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

listen I am ashamed of my rolls needless to say they both miss... again....

Cursing with each swing the hobgoblins rage only grows, he flais wildly about

Round 5 begins

Aurum smiles and looks at the blood on his blade. Of the two of us I am the only one who has drawn blood my friend. I can do this dance for hours...can you?

Arbiter:
Attack with Temple Sword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Attack missed.

Continue stepping around the column to C9

Male Hobgoblin

Following Aurum in a blind rage Arak swings again...

arbiter:
Attack 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Attack 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 Confirmation 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Finally!!!!
Second attack, possible crit: 24
damage: 10
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Arak doesn't drop his sword

This is Pathetic!

With the slightest of movements, Aurum deflects your strike, the sword bypassing him completely.

Arbiter:
Crane Wing to deflect the strike. No damage taken.

Round 6 begins

That was a good strike...but not good enough my angry friend.

Arbiter:
Attack with Temple Sword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Attack = 10
Damage = 10
5' step to C10

You're up!

Male Hobgoblin

Arak deftly side steps the golden blade, then flings the two long swords away with a roar unsheathes his great sword, poring a vile of thick red liquid across the blade, it ignites almost instantly, Arak now takes the time to force you to come to him.

arbiter:
Arak draws great sword, and applys one dose of ifrits blood

End of Round 6

Round 7 begin

Aurum nods and says As you wish. before taking another step back reaching into his pack and removing a vial and drinking in. He instantly swells to double his size, his muscles bulging and giving himself much greater reach.

Arbiter:
5' step to D11 which should put 10' of distance between us. Draw a potion of Enlarge Person and drink it. Sense motive since I used my standard action and cant fight defensively so use Snake Style 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

well if this is how you want to die..

From his belt arak pulls a small vile with each hand, tossing them at Aurum..

arbiter:
Arak throws alchemist fire one in each hand, First1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 Damage 1d6 ⇒ 5 Second1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 211d6 ⇒ 4 Damage 1d6 ⇒ 2

All attacks against touch Ac.
First: 12
Damage: 5
Second: 21
Damage: 2
Both attacks burst centered on Aurum, if they miss then any thing within a 5 foot radius takes 1 point of fire

In the instant the viles shatter on impact there is an eruption of flame
that engulfs Aurum before dissipating

Both attacks miss so Aurum takes 2 points of damage from the splash of the fire. Also you would have had to drop your greatsword to attack with both, is that what you did?

Begin Round 8

Aurum smiles at the change in tactics and says How many of those do you have my friend? Enough to last I hope.

Arbiter:
Return to fighting defensively, Move to square near Arak (I think he is in D8) and attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 1) + 5 = 10
Sense Motive if needed to dodge attack 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

Attack = 14
Damage = 10
Move to right next to you (I think you are in D8 which would put me in D9)

Your turn

Male Hobgoblin

though once again the hobgoblin deftly blocks your attack with his armor turning the blow aside he now sees Aurum's hulking mass towering above him.

arbiter:
Arak uses Ifrit's blood on his fists. High Jump to face punch..Acrobatics, standing jump.1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21, Attack1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 161d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Arak crushes a vile of thick red liquid between his fists, instantly both hands are wreathed in flame, his fists clench and he lets out a snarl before jumping to assault Aurum's soon to be bludgeoned face.

And fail... showmanship all for naught

Definite points for style though lol.

Begin Round 9

Aurum dodges the Flying Flaming Fists of Fury from Arak before swinging his large sword around in a vicious arc.

Arbiter:
Fighting Defensively Attack with Enlarged Temple Sword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10
Sense Motive if needed 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

Attack = 21
Damage = 10

Assuming that hits I have done 20 points of damage so far.

Do you have improved unarmed strike? If not punching me suffers an AoO.

Male Hobgoblin

indeed make your AoO

Arbiter:
AoO attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10

AoO attack = 14
Damage = 10

Swing and a miss, strike 37 lol. You're up Arak!

Male Hobgoblin

after the heavy slicing blow that leaves Eko reeling, quickly he turns it to his advantage rolling and snatching up the greatsword once again.

arbiter:
Acrobatics 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 23, and fighting defensively. AC 24.

Arak stands ready for your next move flaming hands and flaming great sword at the ready

End Round 9

Begin Round 10

Trying to end the fight quickly, Aurum abandons his careful defense and goes for the knockout strike, gripping his sword in two hands to add extra power.

Arbiter:
Not fighting defensively, attack with two hands 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
Sense Motive if needed 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

Attack = 20
Damage = 9

29 total damage now if 20 hits. You're up!

Male Hobgoblin

Rolling away from your might swing Arak dodges the blade skipping away

arbiter:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 10, Acrobatics Roll move to F11. Attack 1. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 231d6 ⇒ 6 23, Attack 2. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 131d6 ⇒ 4 13, both with alch. Fire

Acrobatics was dismal 10...

Attack: 1. 23
Damage: 6
Attack: 2. 13
Damage: 4
Both Attacks are with the alchemist Fire same deal as before

I pray to live through this

Both miss again. I take 2 fire damage. Also, I'm assuming you dropped your greatsword again.

Arbiter:
AoO Attack with Temple Sword two handed. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
Switch to one handed and fighting defensively 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6
Sense motive if needed 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

Aurum lashes out as you go past missing badly, he then switches back to his more defensive style and comes after you one handed missing again.

AoO missed
Regular attack missed

I see perhaps that great big weapon is merely for show...or perhaps to compensate for something? Aurum says with a smile as he continues to press his opponent.

Male Hobgoblin

Arak draws his blade out of the sand once again, lashing out in a last ditch effort to crush his foe...

arbiter:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 241d10 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 Attack 24.... Also this is the last round of rage for Arak

Attack: 24...God I need a hit.
Damage: 13

provokes AoO.

As the swing reaches its ark and the hobgoblin steadies his blade for the next onslaught, he seems diminished.. not physically different but there seems to be less of him and his eyes focus

Aurum deftly turns the attack again, what would have been a solid hit turned aside into nothingness.

Aurum did not appear to suffer any damage from the attack

Begin Round 12

Arbiter:
AoO attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 6) + 4 = 13
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 3) + 4 = 13
Sense Motive if needed1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

Returning to his own attacks, he cannot seem to get the distances right and misses when you pull your weapon from the sand before following up with another miss.

AoO Missed
Regular attack missed

My blade will eventually connect, I can see from your technique that yours never will. Surrender with honor and spare yourself the pain.

You're up. :-)

Male Hobgoblin

Arak Laughs at your pitiful mocking and deftly dodges out of the way moving swiftly to D13 before throwing a stone in your direction, it explodes with a thunderous bang at your feet

arbiter:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 acrobatics, and move to D13 where upon I throw a thunder stone at D9 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5..well s%** just barely thunder stone strikes D9 and explodes. Full defense again

Fort: DC 15.
if you fail you are defend for 1hr.

End Round 12

Acrobatics successful so no AoO...barely ;-)

Arbiter:
Fort Save vs dc 15 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Fort Save = 17 success so not deafened.

Aurum sighs and says quietly As you wish. before moving forward and attacking again, bringing his weirdly curved sword in a vicious overhead chop.

Arbiter:
Move to D12 and attack with Temple Sword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10
Crit confirm 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5) + 4 = 15
Sense Motive if needed 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Move to D12
Attack = Natural 20 (23)
Damage = 10
Crit confirm = 8 (No crit :-( but still a hit)

30 damage total. I seriously hope that was enough to drop you lol!

Male Hobgoblin

how did you do 30 damage?

Not 30 on that one hit but I have hit you twice before for 10 each time plus this time puts it at 30 total damage over the course of the fight.

Male Hobgoblin

Oh god phew you had me scared there, any second lvl 2 build dealing 30 damage in one hit on a normal hit is just scary

Arak falls before the awesome blow... his blood staining the ground.

Damn good Match

O.....M......G.....that was an awesome battle. Kudos to you my friend!

Aurum goes over to the fallen warrior and says a quick prayer over his body. He was a worthy opponent and one deserving of respect. Standing he looks at the crowd and silently salutes them as well before making his way slowly out of the arena.

Male Hobgoblin

at some point a re match would be awesome!
