[Jehova's Arena, Test] Fight the Eighteenth, Inen vs. Bruno

Play-by-Post

The pit fighters today are both short and have ugly pets. They take their places to a smattering of applause, their respective beasts looking disrespectful. Inen to the north, Bruno to the south, pets to the left. And straight on 'til morning.

I'd like very clear descriptions, I want to make sure people could essentially read through your post and know the name of each visible item you're wearing. If something is actually hidden (such as circlet beneath a big hat), that's fine, but no-one should feel mislead at any point in regards to your gear. This description can be in an alias, so you don't need to post it every time, but in that case it needs to be up-to-date. Time for initiatives and posturing.

M Hafling

Inen Strides calmly into the Arena, beside him walks the hound, low and predatory.
Inen

arbiter:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

The Hound
arbiter:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

He wears his craved wooden armor, a spear and blowgun. around his waist are many pouches and containers along with several scrolls hanging from his hip. The mask Inen wore in the previous bout is missing, and a glowing rune sits upon his brow, matching the one glowing on the hound's.

Ahh another one, come so soon to have their candle snuffed out by my shadow

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno enters the Arena confident, if with a bit less swagger than before. His defeat by his Dwarven counterpart has brought him down a notch.
His chain mail has been cleaned of blood and shines in the uniform light. He carries a finely crafted lance, a wicked looking pick, and several pillum. He strides in beside his faithful steed Esmaralda the Battle Camel; an ugly, smelly specimen of the animal if there ever was one. The two seem at ease with each other's stench and patiently await the horn.

dice:

initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

initiative=22

M Hafling

Well Bruno goes first sorry I didn't make my rolls viable.
Inen 20
The Hound 5

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

dice:

ride: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Bruno springs to the saddle with his usual surprising grace. He edges Esmaralda to the right and yells, Have at ye, Dog-lover!
Now in k/l-9/10

M Hafling

The Hound and Inen stride calmly behind the pillar at c 8 out of view

arbiter:
Stealth behind the pillar at b7 while the hound is at B 8: Inen1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 : The Hound 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21 Inen starts casting haste from a scroll 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno humphs in his saddle.
Plaster one gnome 'ore the lintel an' everyone runs 'n' hides. he tells across the arena followed by much muttering and rude comments. He reigns Esmaralda around and moves about the outer perimeter of the arena, trying to spot his foe.

Move to E-F/3-4

M Hafling

As you come around into sight of the gnome and his pet you see the light of a spell fizzle around the beast as it bounds towards you. as it leaps from the ground it lunges for your throat snapping its jaws viciously

Hound
The beast charges across the ground closing the gap instantly

Esma damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Bruno immidiate: mounted ride check success for cover action
Move action to recover, move to draw pick

Bruno deflects the first attack with his shield and shows off some of his riding skill by dropping to the side of Esmaralda to avoid the second attack, dropping his lance in the process. After the danger passes, he drops to the ground, draws his pick, and whistles sharply. Esmaralda's eyes focus on the furry attacker and her teeth lash out in reprisal.

Bruno now in square D2

Turn complete

M Hafling

back to Bruno

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

I do a lot of editing due to how I spoiler the rolls, sorry if it's confusing.

M Hafling

Inen steps from behind the pillar throws a hand up at the camel and utters several words

spell craft 16 and the camel needs to make a will save dc 16

The hound opens his mouth in a roar and a shard of ice smashes into the stinking camel

arbiter:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d3 ⇒ 2

19 touch on the camel for 2 cold

After which in lithe motion the hound darts between the camels legs (or over them depending) and smashes into Bruno
Acrobatics to move through the camels square

Hound's Bite
arbiter:

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Acrobatics dc 24 to move through her square. If failed, E gets an AoO.

Dice:

E's will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Failure. Effect?

M Hafling

dazed for 1 round
and the acrobatics failed

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

cool. Well, not really, but you know. :P
What square is puppy in now?

M Hafling

D3

Inen Only:
Two questions. Did you actually cast and move in your first round, or just go behind the pillar and cast in the next round, because the first action is limited. Secondly, haste doesn't allow two standard actions, only an extra iterative attack, so hasted hound cannot cast and move and attack. Also I believe haste has now run out, yes?

M Hafling

arbiter:
only moved in the first round second cast the spell, and the ray of frost is a spell like ability so you are right, crapp, and hast has run out it only lasted the two rounds there

M Hafling

ignore the cold damage to the camel

Scarab Sages

My turn?

M Hafling

yes your turn

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Ok, for clarity, Puppy tried to move, but failed, provoking from E. Then E got dazed by Inen so she gets no action this turn. Puppy, after failing the check, is in D3 next to both Bruno (E2) and E (E-F/3-4). is this all right?

M Hafling

E got dazed first then puppy moved to attack, Bruno from d3

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Ahh. See? Good thing I clarified.
Bruno grunts as the dog wounds him, but doesn't slow him down. He sees his path to the master of the puppy blocked, so he circles the immidiate threat, swinging his pick in a lateral arc.

dice:

attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

arbiter:

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Yes, it does indeed
Bruno wastes no time. He gives a sharp whistle to Esmaralda who immidiately focuses on her furry nemesis with viciously beedy eyes. Bruno charges straight at the pup with a mighty roar and Esmaralda follows suit, trotting around the pillar to strike at the furry menace with her long neck and teeth.

Bruno charges to C5, Esmaralda move to D-E/4-5 (possibly provoking) and attack

Inen sensing the danger and pain of his furry friend, once again presses his palm against the creatures back and a flare of blue energy courses into the beast.

The hound's teeth catch Esmaralda, but her thick furr prevents serious damage. The battle is on. Bruno steps around the side of the dog and attacks while Esmaralda bites back.

arbiter:
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28 for the hound

Both your foes disappear behind the smoke cloud in an instant...... Unless the hounds acrobatics doesn't beat your cmd

Bruno is wary of such sorcery and jogs over to Esmeralda, mounting a bit more slowly due to his wound. Instead of fool-heartily charging through the mist, Bruno directs Esmeralda around the pillar at a distance to reacquire his target.

Move to C-D/10-11
If Esmeralda spots Inen, Spit attack:19 touch DC 13 fort or sickened

M Hafling

Bruno Only:
Bruno (but not Esmarelda [wait, is it actually Esmeralda? Or Esmaralda? You've changed spellings a few times]), sees Inen (but not the hound). Bruno witnesses the halfling cast a spell from a scroll, touching his hand to the hound, who seems to become even more imposing.

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Arbiter:

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno spots Inen on his way around the pilar. With a surprised shout he pulls the oblivious Esmeralda around and rushes to the south of the pillar, hoping to catch the little caster unprepared.

arbiter:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 191d6 ⇒ 4

Inen:
19 to hit your camel and 8 damage
If that hits
Does that take E down cause if not its pretty much game over

By the time Bruno begins moving, the smoke has already cleared, and he has no trouble going after the halfling.

The attack wings Esmeralda, causing her attack to miss, but Bruno reigns her in and continues his onslaught.

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno has a lower center of gravity. :P
It's all fluff anyway. My posts all include copious amounts of fluff.

M Hafling

with the 16 damage

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Ahh. Good fight then. You're the first person to think about going after Esmeralda.
