Half elf

Two words: Paragon Surge

/drops the mic.

No serious half-elves rock. You give up +2 SR i get that over the elf but you get 1 Hp/lvl more, Skill focus (hello perception), great racial spell options, etc etc etc.

But yeah Paragon Surge /drool

seems like you guys are attacking him because he didnt take your advice about samsarans and you're just pissy about it

elves are still a good race, and probably the best evokers

now you're just coming up with pretty ways to call him stupid because he has a different opinion about the merit of a particular class than you do

looking at it objectively, you're being a jerk

Why do people always believe that ignorant=stupid? nowhere did i call him stupid, i said that his reasons gave the impression that he did not have a good grasp of rules- that is not stupidity that is ignorance. there is a difference. He mistated the Samsaran ability, He then equated that the samsaran ability was the same as spell ability, he mistated how the power worked. he couldn't comprehend why a wizard might want to take spells from the bard or witch list and further stated that a feat could somehow accomplish the same things.

My suggestion was that he re-read the rules, because his answers didn't make sense with the rules. At no time did I insult his intelligence. I only questioned and with reason, his knowledge of the rules of the game.

by playing this whole 'i was not calling him stupid' game you are insulting everyone's intelligence in this thread

everything i read lead to one thing, you two have different opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of a particular class
you, proclaiming your view to be superior gestured for him to re read the rules so he could understand better why you are right and he isnt

and calling someone ignorant is worse than calling them stupid ftr

Eh...I don't really find that Paragon Surge is that interesting for prepared casters. It's freaking FANTASTIC for spontaneous casters, but for prepared casters...

I mean, first you're eventually going to get a +2 headband and belt, so you'll lose any benefit from the dex and int enhancement bonuses from the spell.

What makes Paragon Surge so broken for spontaneous casters is that they can chose the feat Expanded Arcana, basically giving them access to any spell they can cast on the fly for the cost of a 3rd level spell.

This trick however doesn't work for prepared casters

Well if you read, you would see he misquoted and didn't understood the rules.

and second every one is ignorant of something. I for instance would not take a case involving tax law, because i am ignorant of the statue, people who think that being ignorant is an insult, such as yourself, need to explain to me how they became perfect. Because if you know all there is to know and thus can rightfully be insulted by being called ignorant, i would like to know how you achieved it, so i can try to get there myself.

Thirdly i said re-read the rules, because he didn't understand the rules. spells being avialible dont have an effect on the Samaran abiltity. The ability is not linked to charisma. The ability is not replicated by any feat I know.

And for the Record it was only after the Re-read the rules as I suggested that he realized that we were correct and the Samsaran race is far more powerful that the elf race.

and for the record the definition of ignorant,

ig·no·rant
[ig-ner-uhnt] Show IPA

adjective
1.
lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.

2.
lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.

3.
uninformed; unaware.

4.
due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.

Rules of the game...

I thought every book starts with something like "these are only guidelines."

So yeah, Piccolo may not have 100% accurate recollection of everything published by Paizo. But I'm 100% sure he has an idea of what he does and doesn't want in his home game. And he made it 100% clear Samsaran is one of those things he doesn't want.

And, ikarinokami, you understood 0% of this.

if there are guidelines then you dont need to ask advice on how the rules works.

Second if you actually read the thread, you would realize that he did not initally understand how the race works, and it was only after we explained how the race work did he say it was too powerful, to which we said fine.

if you want to say the elf is a better choice than the samsaran because im banning them fine, what i and other took objection to, was the asseration that elfs were given the rules in the book, which is an indefensible position.
