Spell sunder- what does it do?

Rules Questions

I just started pathfinder and i'm not quite familiar with the concept of combat manuvers in general but i read on a guide that the spell sunder is and I quote " is the single greatest Rage Power in the entire game ", yet i don't understand what it does.

I think what it does it removes buffs/debuffs on friendly/unfriendly targets and even self(temporarly) . But I don't understand what examples there could be and does it work on damage reduction or sorts?

If it actually is the best thing out there can you give me some examples where such a power could change the outcome of a battle or at least make a major diffrece?

Thx

I have used and abused spell sunder quite a bit. In my playing I have done the following: removed a geas from a mermaid like creature that was protecting treasure, dispelled black tentacles, dispelled greater darkness in a temple, dispelled magical trap spells on a door ( 6 to be exact, and did a new rage for each one) multiple times, removed a buff from an enemy, and a few other so can't remember. Essentially, as long as there is a spell, so anything longer than instantaneous duration, you can dispel it basically. If its on the creature it's a higher CMB you need to bypass, of on an item, it's lower, as per the spells description.

This is why my 2 barbarian characters I'm currently playing both have it, and both have ridiculously high CMB checks for sunder. Both have CMB checks in the low 40's for sunder, and only 10th level.

Not to mention Str Surge is a Combo Breaker.... I most often use it to detroy enemy buffs.. Esp protective barriers like mirror image, repulsion, wall of force, forcecage etc.. It can be used to negate harmful stuff on u or ur allies as well, some examples would be insanity, feeblemind, curses etc.. Its called the best rage power because of its sheer versatility and it deffinitely holds true to it title.. Esp. at higher levels when killer spells are everywhere and ur CMB is in the 60s with Str Surge..

Thanks :) I'm not sure around what level should I take it?

Honestly, ASAP, so at 6th level. If human you get bonuses to your superstition. Witch hunter adds loads of damage. Spell sunder is icing on the cake.

I would say before 10th.. If i remember right i took it at 8th and selected extra rage power feat at 9th picking up strength surge with it.. Its important to note that without improved sunder u will take an AOO for using this, but most of the time itll be from a spellcaster who either doesnt threaten you or will hit for 1d4 damage or somthing minor.. Now if you have a spare feat improved sunder does give a +2 to the check so its not horrible..

Is the ability OP? I don't want it to ruin the challenge of my campaign

No more so then dispel magic and casters get that. Well maybe it's a little better because it's easier to boost your CMB then caster level, but spell sunder takes more investment.

Spell sunder is an investment that is worth it every time. Unlike a caster using dispel magic, it will be much easier for your barbarian than them because of your bonuses, plus strength surge later on adding a huge bump. I use an adamantine weapon with dueling-fg on it. Which after +5 enhancement, and furious on it, now making it a +7, the dueling property adds +14.

So by level 6, with one feat in improved sunder, power attack, and extra rage power: strength surge you can have...

BAB:+6
Strength surge: +6
Rage:+2
Strength: min. +4
+1 dueling weapon: +1(+2 luck)= +3
Gauntlet of skilled maneuver(4,000gp; ultimate equipment): +2
Improved sunder: +2

Total: +21 for CMB for spell sunder
