I am in a party full of class cannons with no ability to heal. So I decided I would go with a cleric and be a defensive bulwark for the party. As well as be the provide the necessary role of healing (trust me they need it often).
I know a few things
1. It will go up to level 20
2. 25 point buy
3. I will get traits chosen by the dm
4. We need a crofter so I am gonna get the leadership feat
5. I would like the deathless feats to keep standing and heal myself when I drop below 0 hp.
I want to make my character with a high defense but still keep the ability to hit creatures. Which is why I chose to go with Crusader Cleric, I am going with a light mace after reading some of the other forums that state that Asmodeus uses a light mace not a heavy.

As stated before I am thinking I might get rid of the quick draw feat and the other weapons (other then mace) then use something like a weapon strap so I can cast spells.
Any ideas or suggestions to make the character better at being a defensive wall for the party?

I would have gone with the Undead Subdomain (from the APG) to get the Death's Kiss ability to heal the party with negative energy. Not an option for Asmodeus I know, but then again I always play Urgathoa Clerics.
I wish I could too but I am kinda locked into Aasmodeus due to story reasons. Death's kiss would be helpful though... or a party of damphyr

If everyone else is a brute and you're the only spellcaster and healer... why an evil cleric? They're lousy at it.
Where does it say you only get a light mace? Messageboard advice is nice, but is usually just a collection of opinions.
Specializing in Light Mace is underwhelming, IMO. Your choice, though.
Quite frankly, this planning 20 levels ahead is a bit much as well.
And Tower shield is an awful feat IMO. You might as well take 1 level of fighter, get the tower shield, heavy armour and all martial profs.
Asell, I don't think yor need toghness, diehard or endurance. Quite frankly, the other players should make sure that their only chance of having a band aid is safe. However, just on your brief description, I'm getting the impression that these are "me first, if you're not doing massive damage you're useless" players?

It is an evil campaign and I like playing as clerics, and while the channel negative energy is bad for healing, it does make it is useful for clearing out low level baddies (or should I say goodies?). Especially since we don't any any AOE spells for a while.
Another thing, in the book and prd when you do a search for mace in the weapon description, the light mace is the only weapon called a 'mace' the heavy mace is called 'heavy mace'
That is really the only reason why 'mace' is light mace, not that specializing in heavy mace over light mace is significantly better.

Don't get me wrong the party isn't a "me first" party, it just has a lot of powerhouse no hp builds.
The run down is:
A kensi blade bound magus that is focused around doing critical hits
A sorc/anti-pally/dragon disciple (don't ask it is a strange build)
A barb, well rounded
And a rouge who prefers not to be in combat
The party is just light on defense which is why I am going the way I am going.
But diehard is needed for the deathless feats, which is why I am taking it.

Actually that isn't a bad idea, I could get all the profs I want change up the class some.. hum several dancing tower shields may actually be exactly what I am thinking of.. Hum I will have to try specing something out now.

If you're focused on defense, I'd suggest using a sickle instead of a mace. It has the trip property, and enemies will have a harder time killing your allies if they've been tripped.
Similarly, you could trade out Tower Shield Prof. for Exotic Weapon Prof.[net] and throw nets on enemies to keep them away from your glass cannons.
Also, the whole Deathless line is kind of pointless. You're a half-orc: you get one free standard action before going down. Spend that action on healing yourself, and you don't go down at all. It might be cool for a fighter who has feats to burn and can't heal himself on command, but for a clericthey're wasted feats.

I am thinking I would use an animated tower shield to provide cover and if I am fighting big baddie who hits hard. the rest of the time use a quickdraw light shield when cover isn't needed. Mithral full plate so I could move at full speed and get a belt of dex/con and cast bull strength when needed. Though the tower shield idea is a bit of a pipe dream I don't think i will need to ever use it.
I am thinking for the last 5 feats the bodyguard feat would be useful. Or improved natural armor, or extra channels to use with channel smite.
