Please reconsider buying from Amazon

They use neo-nazi gangs to control and abuse immigrant workers and supress worker's rights.

While I don't usually believe in "consumer power", this is a case where we need to set a clear example. By not buying from them and informing them of that being the reason, they will know people do not accept this kind of behaviour.

They of course say they have nothing to do with it, but they clearly benefited from this and could have prevented it before.

The Book Depository looks better and better.

The one that is owned by Amazon?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As stated in the article, Amazon is looking into the issue, and I reasonably sure that this will be resolved and that nobody of any real importance at Amazon had any knowledge of the situation prior to these allegations. They certainly wouldn't be the first major corporation to unknowingly end up in bed with distasteful subcontractors.

Paizo has their printing done in China...would reports of this nature coming from that nation really surprise you, and would you "boycott" Paizo products forever because of such reports?

If you wish to express your concerns to Amazon, by all means do so, but I would be shocked if they have not severed all ties with HESS Security by the end of the week.

Just like every other corporation knows nothing of the sweatshop conditions at their overseas suppliers and always corrects them, or stops using that supplier when it becomes a scandal. You have far more faith in Amazon than I do.

The descriptions of conditions in Amazon's US warehouses (or more accurately the warehouses Amazon uses to ship your purchases from, since they aren't owned or run by Amazon) are bad enough that I've stopped using them. That some are even worse doesn't surprise me in the least.

Whenever you're pushing for the lowest price, there are people being abused to save you that extra penny.

That is most likely true for damned near everything you, I , or most other Americans purchase at all, from just about any large company, if you aren't buying original products from local small businesses. To climb up on a high horse every time one of these news articles comes about and then to continue on with business as usual is fairly hypocritical.

I never buy anything from amazon directly. I buy for sellers through amazon.

I would like to thank Paizo for bringing their business to my comrades in the People's Republic. They need all the money they can get. Building ghost cities to stabilize international capitalism isn't cheap, you know.

And you don't think Amazon doesn't get it's cut? They don't provide the linkage for free.

Last I heard, they make more money on that then they do direct sales.

OTOH, though Amazon's still making money off you, your particular order isn't going through the abusive warehouses and thus encouraging that practice.
