Possess Object, a coffin, and a adamantine suit of Full Plate Armor

Advice

So this Necromancer cast Possess object on a suit of Full plate armor made of adamantine. His body becomes "dead" and is placed in a specially prepared coffin, before the body is placed in the specially prepared coffin, an invisible vampire sorcerer cast Animate Dead on the body.

Would that work?

What happens when the Posses Object spell wears off?

Anyone have an idea how they would handle it?

I'm not certain the body is a valid target for animate dead since the caster isn't technically dead.

There's no RAW, but I'd say one of two things happen, at GM's choice.

Since Possess Object works as Magic Jar, and Magic Jar says "Any life force with nowhere to go is treated as slain. If the spell ends while you are in the magic jar, you return to your body (or die if your body is out of range or destroyed)."

Either the necromancer's returned life force retakes control of the animated dead (original) body, or the process of animating the body causes it to be treated as destroyed and the necromancer would be treated as slain. Most likely the second case.

A contest of will vs. the spell's CL for possession of the body? Intlegent zombie's come from somewhere afterall.

It sounds like you're playing a really intense campaign.

I'd say that the Animate Dead spell would fail because the necromancer isn't really dead. The shock might force the necromancer back into his body, though.

Hey, thanks for your insights.
