Is there any way to increase the HD affected by spells?

Rules Questions

Circle of death can only effect 9 HD creatures?, is there anyway in which to augment it to affect greater than 9 HD creatures?

DESCRIPTION

Circle of death snuffs out the life force of living creatures, killing them instantly. The spell slays 1d4 HD worth of living creatures per caster level (maximum 20d4). Creatures with the fewest HD are affected first; among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the burst's point of origin are affected first. No creature of 9 or more HD can be affected, and HD that are not sufficient to affect a creature are wasted.

The answer is pretty much No. Most of the "save or lose" spells that can affect more than one creature are specifically designed to only affect things significantly lower in power than the caster. Mainly it's game balance but thematically it represents how a level 12 sorcerer can laugh at the ten level 2 fighters surrounding him but really has to take notice of the two level 10 fighters.

There are specific cases where the number of HD affected can be raised, but it's usually a class ability and very limited. [For example an Oracle of Heavens with the Awesome Display revelation counts creatures as having HD = (actual HD - her charisma mod). However this only affects illusion (pattern) spells.]

Maybe there's a future metamagic feat to be made here?
