For those that do PFS how does it play out?

Pathfinder Society

Sounds like Planesnape-ish with a central locale and factions. What does this system provide the traditional pathfinder system not offer?

Here's a relatively recent thread on the subject:
Why PFS?

The Exchange 4/5

The major difference, IMHO, is that you can take your character to any location or con and play it there just like Planescape, Living City, or any other "Living" campaign.

The rules available are limited for sake of play balance just as in any other "Living" campaign.

We do: Home Brew, Adventure Paths and PFS. Each is enjoyable in its own way.

Chose your own prefered flavor(s) and enjoy.

Grand Lodge

Playing online and in the real world, it's quite nice to be able to lug the same character(s) between them and make progress. The critical advantage is when you play in more than one venue, with more than one GM.

Grand Lodge 4/5

It's also a great way to meet other Pathfinder players in your area.

Pathfinder Society is just generally more consistent and organized. Characters are created with the same point buy as everyone else, and everybody in a party has the same opportunities at loot. You can take your character anywhere and just hop into any game for which you qualify. And, still, no two player experiences are going to be the same.
