What could help this party?

Advice

I am currently playing in a 3rd level campaign and need to create a new character for my group, and I am trying to figure out what could fit well into the party.

The good aligned party consists of:
Level 3 Battle Cleric of Gorum
Level 3 Fighter (weapon finesse and archery)
Level 3 Druid
Level 1/2 Sorceress/Barbarian
Level 3 Wizard

What character class do you think would fit well into this party? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Someone with rogues talents maybe? Dont see any in that group makeup.

Yeah, a bard or rogue would probably bring some elements to the table that the current members of that group don't have covered.

Bard. Unless the druid is a pure caster build with a domain you have 4-5 combatants. And if the druid is a pure caster he or she probably casts SNA with some frequency so you probably still frequently have 4 or more combatants.

The druid, unless he or she is a non-wildshape archetype, is going to out-scout any rogue and if you've made it to level 3 without a rogue you're probably not going to need one. The druid and cleric can have outstanding perception and the sorceress/barbarian will have trap sense unless she archetyped it away.

Trap sense only helps after you've set off the trap, gives you saves/AC against traps.

High perception is still very helpful.

There are going to be six people in the party. One is a druid. Perception should not be a problem. The barbarian gets to walk in front to absorb any traps the druid misses.

Not that it's a problem, but my group don't really play completely to the "script," and are not optimized build-wise. The barbarian is new to melee (she always plays a sorceress) and the Druid uses his tiger for fights and casts a few spells (he does plan to go wild shape though). I'm not even sure if the Cleric has put any points into Perception :)

I had thought about Bard, as well as Ranger (maybe with one level in Rogue).

Bard;

if you worry about traps.

there are the sandman and the archeaoligist.

Sandman is not in any way worth it. Archaeologist is the best trap handler bar none, but either loses the main bard benefit.

If your party doesn't optimize then inspire courage becomes even more important. It turns marginal builds into effective combatants and effective builds into monsters. The latter is a gratuitous luxury but the former is closer to a necessity.

Freebooter ranger is also a possibility, but your party also looks like it needs a face, which rangers aren't as good at.

Ranged inquisitor could be very good in this spot.

I'm intrigued by the ranged inquisitor. Can anyone tell me more?

All inquisitors are ranged. In addition to simple weapons and their deities favored weapon they are proficient in most ranged weapons. Take some the normal ranged feats like point blank shot, Precise Shot and you are good to go. Your Judgments and bane work on any weapons. Later you can pick up Rapid shot but most of the time you are a 3/4 BAB class. Judgments and bane can help with this but that is a limited number of times per day.

Thanks for the answer...not quite what I would like to play after looking at it.

It seems like you have most things covered except high charisma characters (unless the sorc/barb has good charisma). If you have charisma covered for a "face" I recommend just picking something ranged that sounds fun.

A witch and her debuffs can be fun if you're looking for something that's not a Bard. If you go witch, since you have a wizard you can have them easily make scrolls to add to your spell book... err familiar, which can help the two of you coordinate to make the most of a large spell pool.

If you want to be more support you can look into an Oracle. I know you already have a divine caster... But Gorum battle clerics tend to be little more than a bandaid when it comes to healing. Also... You could always just go for an Oracle necromancer, they can be non-evil necromancers, which is an interesting way to add a unique element to a non-evil game.

The previous recommendations are very good, I'm just throwing out some alternatives. I think these ideas are just good flavor for your group w/o stepping on toes.
