Divine Focus & Holy Symbol question.

Okay, so, how exactly do these work in cleric spells? Is the holy symbol consumed when a spell with a Divine Focus requirement is cast? I didn't think it was until I read a post on here where someone said they always carry around 10 holy symbols at any given time... If anyone could help me understand this a little bit better I would be very grateful.

Material components are expended, foci, whether divine or arcane do not. I believe divine focus is your holy symbol (but could also be other things too)

Focuses are not consumed in casting a spell. I imagine the reason for carrying around 10 symbols was probably as a backup in case they were sundered, stolen, or whatever. This way the person wouldn't be caught without one.

I have had characters carrying around multiple holy symbols, but... not for spell casting, nor of the same deity...
