Kitsune Traits

Advice

I'm taking the Additional Traits feat for my kitsune paladin because I got bored and have already got the feats that others have already told me to get, my GM allows the following sources: Adventurer's Armory, Core Rulebook, Advanced Player's Guide, Ultimate Magic, Advanced Race Guide and some others, I may be able to convince him to allow some traits, any suggestions on which traits to get?

What's your build?

For what? There are many things that you could mean by that......

Grand Lodge

Your Kitsune Paladin.

What are you stats, feats?

Are you taking an archetype?

What is your focus battle wise?

Have you taken any alternate racial traits?

What traits do you already have?

STR: 13
DEX: 11
CON: 13
INT:11
WIS: 15
CHA 15
These were made using a NPC table, so they need adjusted

Feats are Extra Lay on Hands, Magic Tail x1 and some other feat (Got erased/smudged so unreadable)

No archetype

Battle wise I am a melee

No alternate traits

Traits:

Agile (Ex) Kitsune receive a +2 racial bonus on Acrobatics checks.

Change Shape (Su) A kitsune can assume the appearance of a specific single human form of the same sex. The kitsune always takes this specific form when she uses this ability. A kitsune in human form cannot use her bite attack, but gains a +10 racial bonus on Disguise checks made to appear human. Changing shape is a standard action. This ability otherwise functions as alter self, except that the kitsune does not adjust her ability scores.

Kitsune Magic (Ex/Sp): Kitsune add +1 to the DC of any saving throws against enchantment spells that they cast. Kitsune with a Charisma score of 11 or higher gain the following spell-like ability: 3/day—dancing lights.

Natural Weapons (Ex) In her natural form, a kitsune has a bite attack that deals 1d4 points of damage.Feat and Skill Racial Traits

Low-Light Vision: Kitsune can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.

Normally, you gain two traits at first level(not racial traits, those are something different).

So, the extra traits gained by the Additional Traits feat, are something you should already have two of. I was curious as to which ones you have.

Are you new to Pathfinder?

I'm new I guess you could say, I was introduced last Summer. I've completed about three quests so far and I'm about to finish another one soon. What do you mean by other traits? Like Combat or Equipment traits? Also does racial traits include the ones that are used in the race builder from Advanced Race Guide?

Grand Lodge

No.
These traits.

The confusion here is that there are multiple places where the word 'traits' is used.

There are 'racial traits', which are things like the shapeshifting ability that your kitsune has. These are set at character creation, and generally you cannot get more of these at later levels.

Then there are background traits, which are basically weak feats that give some background for your character. To add to the confusion, there is a 'Racial Trait' type of background trait. Anyway, These are the traits that the Additional Traits feat gives two of. Most GMs let their players start with two of these by default, but maybe your GM didn't do this.

I'm not really sure what background traits I would suggest that you pick for a kitsune in general. This depends more on the personality and background story of your character. However, my guess is that you thought the Additional Traits feat would give additional Racial traits. It does not.

Thank you for the advice, any suggestions on which traits I should pick, and which feat I should take instead of Additional Traits?

Power Attack.

Seconded. And move your stats around so you have Str 15, Wis 11, and either put the 13 into Int or Dex (my preference would be Int, but then I hate not having skill points).

Your main stats for a Paladin are Str and Cha. Wis is actually a dump stat for Pathfinder Paladins because most of your abilities work off of Cha and provide bonuses to your Will save.

I took the feat Power Attack, now what about traits?

Reactionary nets you a bonus to initiative, Dangerously Curious gets you Use Magic Device, and either Militia Veteran or Poverty Stricken gets you Survival. One or more of those go on most of my characters.

For you I'd strongly suggest Dangerously Curious, whatever else you take.

K, thanks for the information!

I would like to hear the story of the rather chaotic bent kitsune becoming a paladin.
