I need some help here. I'm playing in a PFS game this weekend and I am thinking of a human battle priest of Gorum. I was going to go with an Aasimar life oracle but I didn't really wanna be a healbot after thinking it over. My thought on the oracle was to put his racial level bonus into channeling and be a channeling beast (channeling like a level 7 cleric at level 5 and so on). But I couldn't think of what I would be doing outside of channeling and healing.
Str 17 Dex 10 Con 14 Int 10 Wis 16 Cha 8
Domains: Destruction (Rage)
I'm thinking of a guy that is a bit tanky and hits hard with some divine backup. I'm dumping Cha because channeling isn't a focus for this guy. I might be convinced to drop the Wis to 14 to boost Con or Str.
I have a few options that I'm considering
Crusader- I get Heavy Armor at first level and Weapon Focus at 5th but I'd rather have one or both of them now. The Diminished casting is a bear though, I don't mind losing a domain, I do mind the gimped spell progression.
Mendevian Priest- I like getting Heavy Armor for free. The Diminished Spell casting is a lot easier to deal with only losing a domain. As a human I'm gonna start with two feats and have to burn them on stuff I'm not interested in like Toughness or patch up the weak reflex save with Lightning Reflexes. Starting with +0 BAB disqualifies me for Power Attack and Weapon Focus.
Fighter dip- this solves a lot of problems. I get Heavy Armor. I get the +1 BAB so I can get Weapon Focus, Power Attack and Cleave as a bonus. Problem....slowed down casting progression.
Barbarian dip- this is an offshoot idea, take the Armored Hulk archetype for the Heavy Armor, get Weapon Focus and Power Attack as feats AND Rage at first level. Problem is the same as the fighter....slower casting. The 12 hp and extra skills at start is also nice.
Any ideas?

If you wanted to go the Life Oracle route and have something to do besides channeling/healing, remember that you have the entire cleric spell list at your disposal. Additionally, have a look at the Blackened oracle curse in Blood of Angels (if you have it). It pretty much makes weapon use a no-go, but adds some sorc/wiz fire spells to your spells known. Thus, you'd have an amazing spell list for when you're not channeling.
As for the melee cleric idea, I'm playing one myself, so feel free to click my name and mine my stats for ideas. (Note that my CON includes my 4th-level stat bump and my WIS includes a +2 headband.) My build isn't laser-focused, as PFS tends to favor versatile characters due to the random-party nature of organized play. (Not to mention, clerics are well-suited to being generalists.) I have AC equivalent to a full-plate wearer, but with full movement speed and lower ACP. I have only 10 CHA but tend to operate as though I had somewhere around 14-24 CHA, depending on the circumstance (domain powers and feats enhance my channeling, and a domain power enhances my social skills). I've been pretty satisfied with the build so far.

I went with a human Crusader Cleric of Gorum, snagging Heavy Armor proficiency at level one, along with Channel Smite and Guided Hand. I went ahead and took negative energy channeling to dish out some damage, and for my stats I went with 13 STR, 12 DEX, 10 CON, 10 INT, 18 (16+2 Human racial) WIS, 14 CHA. Same domain you chose Destruction (Rage). You end up with a pretty potent melee beast, and the high WIS helps to counter-balance the hit you take to your spells per day. Definitely worth considering juggling some stats around to boost your CON up a bit (especially since you'll be picking up Rage) but I'd keep at least the 13 STR to qualify for Power Attack.
