Question: Intelligence mods from multiple sources

Can a character possess a Headband of Vast Intelligence +2 and a Scarlet & Blue Sphere Join Stone (+2 Intelligence) at the same time, thus giving himself a total of +4 to his Intelligence? I seem to recall a rule saying you can't do that, but I can't seem to find it in the Pathfinder Core Rulebook.

In this case it is about the type of bonus. Both are 'enhancement bonus' to int. So no they do not stack.

The very definition of the game term, bonus, doesn't allow them to stack.

It is true that these enhancement bonuses to Intelligence can't stack. I wonder if both items could give you ranks in a different skill though. I don't see anything specific in the rules which says it shouldn't work, but maybe the bonus skill ranks are assumed to be associated with the increased Intelligence, in which case I guess your Int not going up would mean your skill ranks don't go up either.

If so that's a shame since I'd like to find a way to max out an extra skill or two with one of my current PCs.

Based on your thread it looks like getting skill ranks from multiple (non-stacking) Int boost items won't work. I guess it is time to start saving a lot of gold pieces for my headband.
