Sorcerer Heavenly Fire

Rules Questions

Since you will be a good Sorc to start with is it possible to call heavenly fire down on yourself to use it as a small heal?

Your question is nearly incomprehensible. Next time you should be more clear what you're talking about and maybe link to the relevant bits.

That said, I said "nearly." You are referring to the Celestial Sorcerer's level 1 bloodline power.

Yes, you can heal yourself with it.

It heals you if you are good. You can also be evil and have the Celestial bloodline.

Agreed on mpl's point though.
Nobody expects the standards of an english literature class here,
but if you are trying to communicate with people you really don't know at all, more context can only help.
Links are great to use, or at least quoting from the PRD is a good idea for rules questions.

1. Thank you for both your replies. It is a confirmation of what I suspected.

2. The question coupled with the subject line is not incomprehensible. Holy fire exists in the game in one small corner case. I assumed if you were going to answer the question you were familiar with not only the ability but the specific instances in which it could be used.

3. If I have to quote from the PRD for you to understand the issue, you are not familiar enough with the issue for me to want your input.

4. Why do the pedants always seem to hang out in the advice column? If you can't stand the way people ask a question ignore it and move on.

Heck....

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Um, you came here to ask for help from other people.

If you make it easier for them, you'll get more and better help.

If you make it difficult, many people will move on.

To be honest, I didn't recognize the name of the ability you were talking about, and, thinking you were on a cell phone or not a native English speaker, I looked through the sorcerer bloodlines looking for a power that healed to help you out.

People who know the rules can answer questions about abilities they haven't seen in play, know the name of, or even read before. I answered your "question" correctly in such a state.

Ok, so next time you'll get no answer, awesome.

I was/am looking for an official ruling not an opinion as they seem to get shot down with stellar regularity. Pathfinder garners its share of rules lawyers (see every group) and getting a documented ruling short circuits this. To get a concrete ruling I need someone who has looked at this or something similar in the past and went to the DESIGNERS and asked them to clarify.

There is no such official ruling available and none is needed. The rule is very clear as is--it harms evil creatures and heals good ones (thought it only heals individual creatures once per day each), and does nothing to neutral creatures.

The descriptive text "targeting any foe" is not relevant--the power is a ranged touch attack with a 30' range that heals good and harms evil. Very simple.

And yes, advice is the wrong place because this is a rules question.

If you're not happy with our answers, you can use the FAQ system--if you click the FAQ button, it sends a request for official verification. I suggest you do so to satisfy yourself, but do not be shocked when the response comes back "no clarification needed."

Perfect. The "ranged touch attack" piece will clarify mightily for my GM. Thank you kindly.
