The vision I have for a dwarven community is of an independent group that sells its considerable mining building smiting and fighting skills to worthy groups with a lot of gold. Since the early game map will not include any mountains it is unlikely that we will find a place to build a home that would be worthy of our ancestors. While we wait to find a proper home we might build a modest temporary settlement. Wondrous works of dwarven skill would flow out of this settlement while riches flow into it.
The major concepts I have for the Company are as follow.
* We will strive to become the premier group in game when it comes to mining smithing and building with stone. Our skills will be available at a price.
*While we will make alliances and trade agreements we will not pledge ourselves to a non dwarven realm.
*We will be "dwarves" not "dorfs". This means our characters will avoid the cliché of short hairy drunk with a Scottish accent.
*One day we hope to establish a proper home for ourselves beneath the earth.
*As you may have guessed this will be a RP required organization.
These are just my initial ideas. Since we have about three years until release I figure there will be plenty of time to refine them. I welcome and interest or suggestions

I've added your Guild to the Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links list. If you have a brief description you'd like to appear there to let people know about your guild while they're browsing that list, just PM me or post a clear request here.
Also, The Seventh Veil welcomes you to the community, and extends an offer of Diplomatic Outreach. (Note, this is not an offer for Alliance, just a way to open formal channels for private discussions.)
Please feel free to start a new thread when you finalize a name, and I'll replace your listing. And good luck :)

You certainly shall gain my hammer. Perhaps early on we will be able to settle around Mt Branthlend.

I'm glad to see so much interest in the guild! Welcome Rokolith aussiedwarf MrJones and Tacster!
I think we should keep the specifics of our organization loose until we learn more about the game. However I do think we should come up with a name for ourselves. My suggestions would be:
*The Stoutaxe Clan
*The Goldhammer Clan
Let me know what you think and throw out any suggestions you have.

I'd say we will be leaning towards Lawful Neutral for the overall guild alignment. Any non chaotic characters should be able to fit in well enough. Evil characters shouldn't be overt and might have a harder time fitting in.
Also anyone interested in the guild should take a look at "Dwarves
of Golarion". A PDF version goes for $8 bucks in the store.

Should we even want to call our selves a clan? Perhaps we should not be a clan as such, but a more broader group that accepts Dwarves from different clans.
The way I see it (without knowing too much about the Pathfinder world) is that the River Kingdoms is mostly a human land. Any Dwarves who are there, probably traveled there for work, whether smithing, trade or mercenary jobs. There would still be Dwarves who grew up in the River Kingdoms but I suspect it would be mostly Dwarves from many different clans.
As such I foresee that we should perhaps be a group that is a collective of Dwarves from many clans. This can allow us to in the future, hold a settlement of our own with many clans within it.
On the other hand, perhaps we want to be our own clan and have Dwarves simply join us.
As for name, perhaps we could be "Togra's Folk", where Togra is the main deity of the Dwarves.

An alternative to clan might be "company". That would cover everything from merchant and crafting to fighting (i.e. organizations like the historical White Company or the fictional Black Company). It would even allow inclusion of others if those in charge thought there was sufficient reason. Later on whole clans could be accepted into the company if it grows enough.
One question I haven't seen answered is whether or not a character will be restricted to a single guild.

That's a good point about going with company instead of clan. Perhaps Grey Mountain Company. I would be nice if someday we could become a proper settlement made up of multiple clans.
I have no problem with having characters in more than one guild. Common sense should be used though. Joiningup with our arch rivals wouldn't be seemly.

Well I know that one of my two characters that I have in mind is going to be a dwarf, so I'm looking forward to seeing more info as it comes, Elder Days.
As for my two cents on a title for the group, I would imagine "Company" would work well on multiple levels, especially for a dwarven mindset. Equal parts business and part camaraderie for a common purpose.

My main char is going to be a dwarf. Probably playing as a ranger.
However, I will not make any decision just now because I need to know if some of my clan fellows are or aren't comming to play PFO.
If they come we may start a guild or join together one pre-existent guild.
But If I come alone a logical choice may be your full dwarven ruled company. By the way, I look forward to work together with you at least as a friend!
