Hi there,
I was hoping for suggestions of a spell, item, or combination thereof, that could be used covertly, to extract memories or experiences of a significant duration (many many years), of an individual and reveal those experiences or memories to the caster or creator of the item/spell.
context:
The goal is to "learn" a particular skillset, let's say, cake-making, to the level of expertise of the individual the memory was extracted from; the holder of the memory is an expert in their field of cake-making.
rules:
- holder of said memory must not killed, negative side effects are OK.
- can not be "real time", must extract previous memories and reveal them.
- it is preferred that memory extraction is covert, that is that the memory holder may not be aware a memory or experience was learned by a second party. They may, however, feel side effects as mentioned prior.
- it is preferred that some aspect of the solution is of an evil nature or origin, ie. blood required, or pain involved, etc.
Thank you, your suggestions are appreciated.

I'm sorry you want to learn a skillset, not just gain some information.
No way I know of to do this however see the spell Blood Transcription. It allows gaining access to spells through blood. Technically the target must be dead but one could argue that draining a pint of blood and making sure that they live through it could produce the same effect. Talk to your GM (or maybe you are the GM) about researching a spell that will apply the temporary transfer of skills.
Follow this up with a modification of memory (see above post).
