Hey I just started the Pathfinder Society- I've played pathfinder before so I know how to play the game simple enough but this society thing is confusing me. For instance I read we get missions for Andoran before the session- how do you get those or does the GM give them to us? I have my first session Sunday so I want to make sure I know what I'm suppose to do.
Thnx!

I give them after the initial briefing... and always have. To me it seems rather odd to give them beforehand.
Of course you can give them before the VC briefing or after, but, for the purposes of the new player that doesn't know all the specifics of how the usual scenario plays out -- you get them at the start of the game.
:P

Agreed. It also cuts down on players not paying attention to the mission briefing because they're busy reading their faction missions. Speaking of which, I also try to give the players time to read the faction missions when I give them out. A lot of GMs just jump straight into the adventure, and I have a hard time reading my faction mission and paying attention to what's going on at the same time.

Hey Skyybunnie welcome to the society... awesome name by the way :)
bunnies are awesome just saying :)
****as an attempt to preempt another long thread on this topic ... Skybunnie wasn't asking about when to hand the faction missions out ... they had an impression that they had to have the faction mission before going to the game.. a question that Doug so eloquently answer with the first response :) .. if you want to revise the thread on when to give out faction mission may I direct your attention to the search function :) thanks ... and for those of you in the side exits ... good luck

I usually hand out the faction missions before doing the briefing for a couple reasons:
- I take a little bit longer to set my stuff up than it does for the players to set up, so it gives them something to do while I finish taking map packs/pawns/other various stuff out and organized.- Sometimes important NPCs/places/other proper nouns are mentioned in the faction missions as well as the briefing, so it's nice for the players to see the name as they're listening.
- Sometimes the faction mission happens during the briefing.
