Winter witch....

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

Should be simple, isn't. Prestige class. Has the normal table granting "+1 witch level spells per day" for every level except the first.

Then the first level ability is this:

Quote:

Winter Witchcraft: Levels of the winter witch prestige
class stack with witch levels for determining a winter
witch’s spells per day, spells gained at each level, the effect
of her hexes and other witch class abilities (including
archetype abilities), the abilities of her witch’s familiar, and
the level at which she can select major hexes or grand hexes.

So, 1st level in this class, what caster level is the witch?

I think this must be FAQed, but I looked and it seemed like it wasn't clearly covered. I'm not great at navigating the FAQs for this game. Help?

Pretty sure winter witchcraft have been edited to this:

Scarab Sages

Sounds good.

Any chance you have a more official looking link/source? Not an issue of disbelief, just wanting to be sure when I tell others that this isn't just something a guy in a forum said.

Sovereign Court

yeah sure can be found in the reign of winter player's guide

Scarab Sages

Awesome, thanks.

zombie thread, by why clutter things w a new thread
---------------------------------------------------

it does appear that the winter Witch gets almost double casting per level (19 casting / 10 levels).

both erratas advance the witch spellcasting by 9/10. Then Winter Witchcraft also advances Spellcasting, since that falls under the 'other witch abilities', since that does not fall under the called out abilities: 'hexes, archetype, familiar, and major/grand hexes'

The same caster level she was the level prior, even though other aspects of the class DO advance, she does not get a bump in caster level and spell slots until she hit 2nd in the PrC.

Winter Witchcraft says otherwise

Looking at the layout it doesnt seem like that is the case since it have the table of "+1 to witch class" on the spellcasting progression table.

So most likely its not the intent of the Winter Witchcraft that it would progress spellcasting, but i think i have heard that spellcasting count as a class ability so i am not sure where this was mentioned or FAQ'd.

CL is a specific ability the Winter Witch calls out as advancing in manner outside the general advancement of Winter Witchcraft.
