The former Lord of the First is mentioned in Kobold Quaterly 22 to have been slain by Ragathiel after dallying with Lamashtu.
So I'm wondering:
1. Will there be more information on former Archdevils/Demon Lords/powerful Outsiders in general?
2. What was he Archdevil of? (Mammon being about greed, Belial lust e.t.c)
3. Why did he think it was a good idea to dally with Lamashtu?
4. And why does some believe Ragathiel killed him because of the urging/scheming of Asmodeus?

Typhon's a DEVIL?! Weird... Would've thought he'd be a demon lord or some such, judging by his depictions, "portfolio" (storms, monsters, destruction, winds, volcanoes, etc.), & "personality"/mannerisms (he's seems to be shown as being rather chaotic, thus requiring "the gods to defeat him & bring order back to the world" myth...) in classical/ traditional sources.
Oh well. Golarion's a different world. (Although, with the whole "Golarion & Earth are both in the same universe" conceit, it does make things a little... unintuitive.)
<shrug> Whatever. Just my 2 cents.
Carry on.

Typhon is dead? That's unfortunate. He seems like really great source material for a truly multiverse shaking monster or deity. I know the source material shouldn't be worn as a straight jacket, but Typhon in Greek mythology was the mightiest of monsters, who actually overpowered Zeus once! Awesomeness! Maybe the "Typhon" that Ragathiel defeated was a pretender that named himself after the more ancient and powerful original Typhon as a deception intended to intimidate his foes? Typhon was called "The Father of All Monsters"... it seems like there's a cool Kaiju link there (since Godzilla was called King of the Monsters: the titles are kind of reminiscent of each other, and Typhon is described as being enormous and kaiju-y). Sorry that I departed from point of this thread; I just really like Typhon!

Well Archdevils in Golarion are often named after mythological figures(Dispater, Moloch).
And I know who Typhon in Greek mythology is. But this thread is about the Golarion Archdevil named Typhon so discuss the son of Gaia somewhere else.
Baa baa Yaga: If Typhon is a pretender to his name does that mean Dispater and Moloch are pretenders to theirs? After all Dispater is the name of a Roman deity and Moloch a Canaanite god.

Well Archdevils in Golarion are often named after mythological figures(Dispater, Moloch).
Well, so are many of the demon princes (Abraxas, Baphomet, Dagon, Kostchtchie, Orcus, Pazuzu, Shax, Socothbenoth, Flauros, Haagenti, and Lamashtu herself! Also, Areshkagal, Mestama and Nurgal "spelling corruptions" of actual mythological figures, too.) and half of the daemon horsemen (Apollyon & Charon; you could argue that Szuriel is too, although a corruption of the original inspirations for the name & character...). And the ruler of the divs is Ahriman, so...
Your argument's a little moot.
Also, there's no reason that the various fiend-overlords can't/don't use pseudonyms or the names of rivals (whether active and known in Golarion or not) to further their own schemes.

Also, the title of the thread just says "Typhon". There's no context of "Typhon, the Archdevil" to it. So bringing up the mythological reference of the name is a perfectly valid response by those who were not aware that you wanted to discuss the "Golarion archdevil named Typhon" ONLY.
(There's no need to come across as impolite to those who might have been interested in adding to the discussion...)
My apologies.
